Vehicle Detail
Hi and thanks for looking at my NO RESERVE auction. My name is Larry and I love cars. I usually own 4 or 5 cars at a time, then my wife makes me sell one before I can buy another one to put in our driveway. My cars ARE NOT flipped from dealer auctions, but are actual cars that I have titled, tagged, insured, and driven for a while. Every vehicle I sell is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please keep in mind as you read this that I am not a professional mechanic. Up for auction is a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 400E. I have owned this E400 for a little over a year. I only drive this car a few times a month and currently have historic tags on it (Historic tags are cheaper and do not require the car to be inspected in Maryland). This car is the last of a breed when a Mercedes was built to a standard, not a price. This Mercedes is in Fair condition THE GOOD: The 5.0 liter V-8 engine runs strong and the transmission shifts properly. The exterior looks good and the classic white finish still has a nice shine but has a few (3) small rust spots (see pic's). The factory wheels look good but have a few blemishes. The glass and lenses are all intact. The tires are NEW (brought 1 month ago). The doors, trunk and sunroof all open and close properly. The interior looks good for the age and mileage of this vehicle. , no major rips or tears but could use a good detail. The radio and gages all work. THE BAD: Power steering pump needs to be replaced. The car steers fine, just without power steering. The oil and coolant light are on, even though oil and coolant levels are good. Mechanic said the sensors need to be replaced and it is common for them to go bad. Mechanic said if this was a real problem car would overheat, and it does not. The rear windows do not work. Could be a fuse, switch or regulator. Front window regulators were changed right after I brought the vehicle and they work great now. Blower motor for A/C does not work. May be a fuse or the actual fan motor. This is a nice classic vehicle that needs a few comfort repairs, but drives well and could be put on the road immediately. Driving this Mercedes is an absolute pleasure. It is at home on the highway and cruises easily. I drive the vehicle about once or twice a week and it has NEVER left me stranded. If you have never owned a Mercedes-Benz before please do your research before you buy. These cars require periodic preventative maintainence by technicians with specific knowledge of this vehicle. There is no such thing as a perfect Mercedes-Benz. As they age, they all seep fluids and take on a personality of their own. The only Mercedes that needs nothing is a brand new one...and I bet the dealership will still find a way to bill you for something. It is best to have a private mechanic who is very familiar with these cars. I'm not trying to scare anyone off. Mercedes are amazing vehicles. I can't remember the last time I didn't own one, and currently have 3. I just want my buyer to know what they're buying in advance. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
