1978 Formula Firebird for sale. I purchased this car from the ORIGINAL OWNER less than 2 years ago. I love it and want to continue working on it, but if I can get a good price, I will let it go and focus my attention on other projects. This vehicle is in good, running and driving condition. It will pass a Texas State Inspection without any problems. One issue is that it does have a significant transmission fluid leak once the engine has been running and is warmed up. The brakes are also soft and at the top of my list for attention, but still have plenty of stopping power. It has the original, un-molested, small-block-chevy engine with a Holly Street Dominator intake manifold and Holly carb on top. The engine has been very well maintained. Unfortunately the original owner was not the type to keep good maintenance records. But I can tell you from doing the intake swap and taking off the valve covers, the inside of the engine looks very well maintained. The odometer reads around 80k, but I’m sure that is not accurate. The body-work on this car is 95% done. The floor-boards are 100% brand new, professionally installed. The quarter-panels are 100% brand new, professionally installed. There is a little bit of rust on the lower-front corners of the doors. The fenders have some small rust damage in the dog-leg area and there is some old, body-filler cracks in the front of the driver’s side fender. A little bit of work left in these spots, but other than that, this car is straight. The interior on this car is currently the original dash and steering wheel/column, and original door panels. Other than that, all it has is a 4-point roll-bar (painted yellow to stand out) and 2 Megan brand racing seats that have been professionally reupholstered in black vinyl leather. They look brand new. The car is being sold with BRAND NEW carpet and insulation still in the box and ready for install. Also, Competitive Engineering brand sub-frame connectors, BRAND NEW still in the box are sold with the car. The paint is not perfect. The new body panels were covered in primer and painted blue out of a spray-can. The rest of the paint is fading significantly. But some interior work and a paint job and you have yourself a sweet Firebird. From there, the upgrades are up to you … suspension, brakes, engine … whatever. I'm asking $3,750, which would not even cover what I’ve put into this car between body work and new parts. But I am willing to look at any offers. I will accept a significantly lower offer for the car if you purchase it without the racing seats I mentioned above. I am currently out of the country, serving in the Army in Korea, but I will be back around the 5th of August. If you need additional pictures, I can get them to you at that time.
