BMW Targa 2002 VIN# TP18KW37692XB33 1974 BMW 2002 Baur Targa Brilliant Blue Exterior / Ferrari Leather Black Interior Exterior Restoration 4 Speeds 1 of 1900 Baur Built Targas But this Car is not one of those 1900. It is one of 44 Build by Baur without the knowledge of BMW at the Time. The History on this Car is pretty astonishing. The entire BMW 2002 collector will notice the odd VIN #. This is the Original VIN# from Baur. That’s right from Baur not from BMW in Munich. Here is the Story. The company Baur was building 1900 2002 Targas for BMW. Baur build 44 Targas BMW didn’t know about. That makes actually 1944 build. After building exactly 44 of those Cars they (Baur) got cough from BMW. This is the 33th Car you can see that on the last three digits’ from the VIN # B33. The B stands for Baur and the # 33 for the 33th car. Since Baur didn’t get a VIN from the VIN# circle of BMW they went to the German DOT (TUV in Germany) and applied after Technical Inspection for their own VIN# circle. This is an extremely rare Car. There are only 15 Cars known in the world they exist out of this production from Baur. The Car was apparently Build in 1972 that what the VIN # says. So it should be a Roundy. It also says the car was once Inca Red with Gary Interior. The German Motor vehicle Department dated the car 1974. I think since the got the VIN # in 1972 and it was finished in 1974 with square back lights. A recipient of a Fresh Exterior Restoration in the brilliant Blue, this 4 Speed Targa is truly a rare find. This 1975 BMW 2002 Baur Targa was part of a limited production run of 1963 units, between 1971 and 1975 by BMW factory authorized Karosserie Baur. They were also responsible for models such as the BMW M1 and Porsche 959. A Removable Targa Top rests above the front passenger compartment, behind it a Soft Cabriolet Top folds back to give the rear passengers a peak at the sun. Power comes from its original and efficient 2 Liter Inline 4 cylinder engine and 4 Speed Manual Transmission that has been regularly serviced and maintained. This Car is imported from Germany the speedo meter is in KM and reads only original 139.000 Kilometer = 85.000 Miles. The car has Turbo Karosserie with front and back spoiler. Aluminum Rim’s and Recaro sport seat’s retail one Seat 2000 US$. The Interior is Black leather used by Ferrari. It breaks my heart but I have to sell this rare unique Car. This Car was driven on the German Autobahn and knows speed. It handles like a sport car and hugs those mountain curves like a Porsche. If you are a true BMW collector or you just love the 2002 edition this is a must have. These cars are selling up to 40.000 US$. I hope it will find a good home. Thank you for looking at this rare German beauty.
