Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1963 Ford Country Sedan built in Norfolk, VA. This six passenger wagon has had about 8000 miles put on it in the last 27 years. It is in nice enough shape to use as is, and is also a worthy candidate for restoration. It has a current VA State safety inspection. The mileage is original. The aluminum and stainless trim is in great shape and it is obvious that this car was stored indoors through the years. The glass is beautiful. The exterior has a repaint that looks over twenty years old and it has a patina to match. There is some peeling on the tailgate, but other spots have been spot primed. The top has light surface rust in the paint. The car is very solid overall, but the rear wheel wells are showing signs of cracked rust repair. In other areas, under the doors, and around the weep holes it is in amazingly good original shape. On the lower inside lip of the tailgate there are small signs of rust beginning that should be primed, but it is very minimal. The interior is very clean and shows well. It was repainted at some point and newer carpet was installed. It is optioned with a power front seat and a remote driver's mirror. The clock and radio are there, but do not work. The radio turns on, but does not pick up any stations. The gauges, switches and heater all work properly. The engine is the original Z-code FE390 with the Thunderbird designations on the Valve covers and fenders. It is a smooth runner and starts up easily with no smoke. The transmission is a green dot Cruis-O-matic 3 speed that operates as it should. The car tracks straight on down the road and stops without pulling to one side or the other. The tires have been replaced and are like new. It has a valid inspection sticker. Inspections are encouraged and welcomed. This only happens after the car sits for a day or more. It needs a new motor mount. If you really put your foot into it, you can feel the motor move through the gas pedal. I have been told that these big 390's are known for going through driver side mounts. It can be driven, but it's my opinion that the mount should be addressed if someone wants to drive it over 200 miles home. I have ordered a new engine mount and will try to have it installed over the weekend. I will update the auction accordingly if I have time to put it in.
