Vehicle Detail

1988 Toyota MR2 Supercharged, T-Tops Your New Cool Ride! First of all, I'm selling it because I live in a condo and only have one underground parking spot (and two cars - the second is an Acura RSX). I need to sell this car before winter so that I don't have to pay for storage (and insurance) another winter. I've been storing it two winters now in heated parking with a car cover on it. Second of all - why I bought it (maybe you can relate to this). I got to drive my uncle's MR2 right after I got my license. I hardly knew stick shift and he let me take it out. I loved it. It was a great, little car. I knew that I had to own one someday. So the search was on. It took me 2 years to find this one in IL. I even flew down to North Carolina to buy one but when I got there, it had problems and I had to fly back. So it was a bit of a search. The things I HAD to have on it were: Supercharged 5-speed It had to be a 1988 or 1989 The "Toyota" wind deflector thing above the rear window. I finally found one that had all that and now I'm passing it on to another owner that will take good care of her. The Specs: Mileage: ~218,500 (~70,000 on new engine) Transmission: 5-Speed Body Style: T-tops Engine: 4-cyl, Supercharged 2 Seater, Small Trunk, Frunk Mid-Engine CD Player with Removable Face and Remote Tires: Good Wheels: From a MK3 (early 2000s) MR2 (I believe) Exhaust: Performance Tinted Windows VIN: JT2AW15J8J0126966 The engine was swapped. This car wasn't originally supercharged. The previous owner did some work on it and did a nice job - even the engine cover (I guess you can't say "hood") is for the supercharged model. He and his brother did it right. He got it repainted, too, a few years back. When I got it, there was a small rust spot over the rear, driver's side wheel and I got that fixed. I did just notice a small rust spot over the windshield, so there's just that - the rest of it looks sharp! What I did to it: New clutch ($1200) Rust fixed ($325) Tie rod fixed ($350) Bought a car cover - included ($60) How Does It Ride? You'll love it! The supercharger kicks in and you feel it. With the t-tops off, it's a great ride either in town or on the highway. What to Expect Lots of compliments! I'm actually serious about this. You will get thumbs up as you drive down the road. Teenage kids smile when they see it and they don't even know what it is (I think they think it's a Ferrari). At parking lots and stoplights, people will talk to you about the car and ask about it (and want to race you, too). If you don't like compliments on your car, please do not bid on this one.
