Vehicle Detail
Here is my 1968 VW Beetle. It was fully stripped down and restored about 10 years ago. it received new floor pans, heater channels, rear luggage shelf, front and rear aprons and any other panels that needed to be replaced. the chassis was coated with por15 and received a new adjustable lowering front axle beam, all new steering components, ball joints, tie rods, bushings and bearings, all brand new brake components along with all stainless brake lines. also heavy duty non tapered race axles and a high performance Rancho transaxle was installed with a 4.12 ring and pinion, super diff, heavy duty side cover, poor mans posi, welded 3rd and 4th, etc. the body was finished in House of Kolor copper pearl. all new seals and fasteners were used during reassembly. it should be noted that during the restoration process changes were made to make the car resemble a 1966 beetle. the hood and deck lid along with the front and rear aprons, bumpers, and fenders are all 66 and earlier style. also the drum brakes were changed to the wide 5 lug style in order to mount the BRM replica wheels with firestone 145 tires on the front and 205's on the rear. custom modifications include: shaved front turn signals (signals now behind horn grills), shaved hood and deck lid handles, frenched in vw hood emblem, and the dash has been smoothed so now there is only a speedometer and fuel gage along with the head light switch and wiper switch. there is no glove box, no radio and no heat. a brand new, full factory style wiring harness was installed front to rear. the seats were stripped and redone with all new foam and 2 tone vinyl/velour upholstery. new door panels and carpet were installed as well. the interior still looks good though there are some minor stains here and there on the seats and the custom headliner has some wrinkles and spots. also the front door panels are a little warped. also, one piece door windows were installed. the paint is starting to show some age, there are some typical scratches and chips and there are some small bubbles in some areas. there are also some spots of rust starting to form. there is also some cracks starting in the paint along the top of the dash. I do have a leftover quart of the base coat paint that was used to go with the car. this year the clear coat on the wheels has started peeling. also, there is a locking lug nut on each wheel but I can't find the key for them. this bug was originally built with a high performance engine but that was removed a few years back due to problems and parted out. I then found a used, supposedly rebuilt, stock 40hp 1200cc that is in it now. the history and mileage of this engine is unknown but it seems to run good. I don't really drive the car much anymore and there is probably less than 10,000 miles on everything except the engine since the restoration. I don't have the time or desire for the upkeep anymore and it is a shame to see it sit. I would like to see it go to someone who will enjoy it. this beetle would really be a good start for someone looking to add a nice motor and do a little cosmetic work to bring it back to tip top shape. I do not have a title as New Hampshire does not require one for a vehicle this old. however, the car is currently registered so I can provide a registration along with a bill of sale. it is being sold as is, a non refundable deposit of $100.00 is due after auction ends and I would prefer to be paid with cash at time of pick up. please contact me with any questions. thank you.
