PRICE REDUCED. Up for auction is a re-listed 1957 Ford Thunderbird that will be sold with NO RESERVE to the highest bider. It's a D-code, automatic, with a soft top only. I've only had her for a couple of months and haven't even taken out yet for the summer season, but can tell you that she's a solid little bird. This is the sixth 1957 Thunderbird that I've owned and think that she's a keeper, but since I'm moving, am selling her and a few other toys so that I can travel a bit lighter. Like I said, I haven't had the chance to take her out to see what she's really got, but can tell you that she starts up every time and has a pretty good 312 powerplant. I've let her run and idle to try and hear what little bugs she might have and to see if she overheats like these Thunderbirds can tend to do. She dribbled fluid after she got hot, so I'm putting a new water pump on this week since the pump's bearings seem weak and was the cause of the leak. I will also change the spark plugs since I'm not sure when the last owner may have tuned her up and I want to get the idle as smooth as possible. I will also include a spare Holly carbeurator with the sale of the car. The electronics all work on the car, including the power windows and power seats, but while the radio turns on it doesn't appear to be connected to the speaker since it's not producing any sound. I will include the original Town & Country radio with the sale of the car. The interior is in nice shape, with no rips or tears and everything's there. The body is solid, including the undercarriage. Photos of the undercarriage and trunk will confirm that the car doesn't show any signs of rust. Aside from some of the undercarriage being a bit wet from the water pump leak, this car is dry, solid and in good shape. The tires on the car are nearly brand new. I will include a full spare set of Thunderbird hubcaps that are in really nice shape with the sale of the car. This is a driver that is a solid 10-20 footer, with no rust that shines up nice and demanded quite a bit of attention the couple of times that I've taken her out around town. The body panels are straight and solid, with no apparent signs of having been in any accidents or that there's been any use of bondo. There are a couple of tiny bruises and scratches on the hood, which you can see in the photos. The bumpers are shiney and the rest of the trim work is in presentable condition. The convertible top, which based on the $2,500 - $3,500 replacement cost for them makes this a rather valuable component on it's own, is in fair shape. Because like many of these convertible tops in these cars, this one has sat folded up and tucked behind the seat for years, it has a small hole in the crease on the driver's side and one in the plastic rear window. The canvas or vinyl soft top replacements are really affordable and since they only cost $200-$250 is an improvement easily done on these T-Birds. I will include a brand new white, vinyl, replacement soft top with the sale of the car. Overall, this car presents nicely, but again, is a driver. It is the kind of car that you can jump in an enjoy as it is, but could easily be a car that without much further expense could be taken up a level or two and be made into a extremely strong car. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
