Vehicle Detail
Hello, thanks for looking at my truck. Up for sale is my 1985 toyota off road truck. I have no title for it, it is strictly off road only. Up until about a year ago, it had the original 4cyl. I was tired of losing power on the steep hill climbs, so I took the task on of putting a ford 302 and auto tranny in it. It turned out alright, except for some little things that need attended to. Needs water pump pulley, stock one was cut down and rewelded to fit, need to buy a custom one to get it to work right, which can be bought from summit racing fairly cheaply. The linkage was made in about a half an hour on the auto shifter. It goes too far past center when put into park to get it back out of park so I just leave it in neutral, also an easy fix if you could find a cable out of another vehicle. I have two brand new never mounted tsl super swampers, 34 10.50/r15s to go with the truck, also brand new in box lock rite front locker and a front rebuild kit for the steering hubs. Its a lunchbox style so no need for mechanical linkage, electric, ect. The engine and trans both worked perfectly, ran good drove good right up until I was going to use it this spring. I started it once or twice a month all winter long, when it came to put it on the trailer and take it out since I put the v8 in, it wouldnt start. I took gas tank out and cleaned it out, and blew the fuel lines out, but it looked like a lot of gunk came out of the carb, so I would say the carb needs taken off and tore down and cleaned correctly. The pvc I used for the coolant line could stand to be changed, maybe to somthing that can withsatand some heat. I have one connection that seeps a little out, but other than that they seem to be holding up. So like I said it needs carb clean to run, i can get it to run but not very well and it doesnt allways start, so bring a winch for loading. Also the tires that are on it have seen enough rocks and mud, two of them have leaks, one wont make it 30min before going down, the other more like 30days before its going down. But as I said I have the two new ones that are slightly bigger. The rearend was welded years ago and I have not had any issues with it. I redesigned the rear shock mounts so the both go in, instead of one forward and one backward. I also installed new leaf spring bushings and took a leaf out and changed the lifting blocks in back. I bought the truck lifted, but the rear was really really stiff. Engine electronics have all been switched over to toyota, so everything looks stock in the engine compartment. It was all wired in with the exesting truck harness. Ive had a lot of fun in this truck, it has taken me places I would have never thought vehicles could drive, I cant imgaine what it would be like with the locker and a good set of tires. History on the engine and drivetrain, they came from an 1980 f150 that was rusted out. I was told before I bought it, it had new head gaskets. It has a carter performance carb and an old school edelbrock performer intake. I have the air filter, thats not pictured. One of the valve covers needs a couple bolts and new gasket. I dont know of any other leaks on the truck. I have described this truck to the best of my knowledge and explained the issues I do know in detail. I would be will to deliver up to 150miles for a small fee, if needed. If you have any questions, cause im sure i forgot somthing, please email me or call, 309-825-2415 thanks scott
