Vehicle Detail

If you're looking for a unique GTA then this one's for you. This was a long term restoration project that was done right and is ready for a new owner. I bought this car in June of 2001 and have worked with local professionals to build a hot rod that looks fantastic and runs strong. This is a PHS documented GTA. I like a clean look so the GTA badges were not put back on after the repaint. The engine was rebuilt in the fall of 2002 by an experienced mechanic. Stock lower end but plenty of changes up top including Accel intake components (58mm throttle body, high flow runners and super ram intake manifold). That wasn't enough to really make it go so more upgrades include a mild SLP cam, AFR 68cc aluminum cylinder heads with Comp Cams roller tip rocker arms (1.52 ratio) and hardened push rods. A high volume oil pump was installed. The original oil cooler unit above the filter was also replaced. The exhaust includes SLP Power-Flo stainless steel headers and Y-pipe that have been Jet Hot coated. I used mostly stock Walker parts after the Y-pipe to keep the exhaust medium loud. A custom chip was made by Ed Wright at FastChip. A recent run at Illinois Dyno Center produced a rear wheel peak horse power rating of 251.5 at 4100 rpm. Peak torque was 360.45 ft. lb. at 3000 rpm. Idle is quite smooth and the car drives well around town. Ignition/spark is managed by an MSD Digital 6 Plus controller with a high performance MSD coil. RPM limit is set at 5600. The engine has a high torque mini-starter. The stock TH 700R-4 transmission was rebuilt in July of 2004. The replacement torque convertor has a slightly higher rpm stall rating. The original Borg-Warner limited slip differential assembly was replaced with an identical new assembly and the original 3.27 ratio ring and pinion gears were swapped with a Precision Gear 7.75"set with a 3.73 ratio. A replacement speedometer gear was used so the mph reading on the digital dash is accurate. Monroe struts are in the front with Gabriel shocks in the rear. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE 950's, stock size. The radiator, alternator, a/c accumulator and evaporator, and heater core, have been replaced. The a/c and heater works well. The a/c still uses R-12 refrigerant. The wheels are held in place with McGard black chrome lug nuts and wheel locks. The headlight door motors have been replaced. The interior includes new carpet and new fabric on the sun visors and sail panels. New fabric is also on the replacement plastic headliner. The rear seats are the original leather. The front seats have been re-covered using matching gray vinyl and fabric inserts. The same fabric was used to re-cover the interior door panels. Dash pad and center console are in very good condition. The original steering wheel that had radio controls has been replaced with a OEM Firebird wheel. All interior electric switches are working including the digital dash. The sound system includes a Pioneer 1.5 din receiver (DEH-P47DH) with a single CD player and I-Pod auxilliary input cable. The dash pad speakers were removed. Speakers are now Pioneer 6x9 in the sail panel area and Pioneer component speakers in the Q-Forms foot well speaker pods. The original power antenna was replaced with a black fixed mast antenna. Body work and repaint in the original bright red was done locally at Mid-Valley Auto Body. The original rear deck lid spoiler was replaced with a fiberglass unit from Third Gen Resource. The car also has a new windshield. The body is very straight with absolutely no dings or dents. The high quality of the body and paint work can be seen in the photos. I recently removed the mud flaps as I never quite got used to them. There are some things to make you aware of as you consider making a bid. Small age spots have appeared on the windshield rear view mirror. There is a crack in the passenger door rear view mirror. A piece of plastic has broken off from the left front turn signal marker housing. The heater/defrost blend door is sticking and not moving freely. Tapping on the vacuum actuator frees the door and it moves to the correct position to send air to the floor heater vents. The wheels have some clouding of the clear coat and some corrosion where wheel weights were once placed on the outer lip. There are some very light scratches on the top on the driver's side that wouldn't show up in a photograph. The shift lever will move from neutral into reverse without depressing the button on the left of the T-handle. I removed the leather from the emergency brake handle and shift lever handle because it was dry and cracked. A $500.00 deposit is required to be paid through PayPal within 48 hours after the end of the auction. The remaining balance needs to be paid within seven days of the close of the auction. If the high bidder does not follow through with the purchase of the vehicle their deposit will not be refunded. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping but I am very willing to work with the buyer to arrange for possession of the vehicle at the lowest cost possible. Options include me driving the car to meet the buyer after the balance is paid in full. The buyer would be responsible for the cost of fuel and my travel expenses including a way to return home. I know this car very well so please ask questions either through the E-Bay site or by calling me at 309-738-2766. I have established a reserve price although it is far less than the $20,000 plus spent on this project. I have all receipts for the work done. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding on this fabulous Firebird!
