Vehicle Detail
I recently bought this bus on eBay for $11,100. I flew down to Atlanta with the intention of driving it back to Baltimore. The owner was not honest and as it turned out, there were several problems that surfaced after I gave him the money and started my trip back. Since I purchased the vehicle I have had to invest $1104 in additional work and $340 for new tires. At this point there are additional issues that need attention. The following items are in need of repair 1) door locks 2) heater 3) water faucet on camper sink This was the description which was listed on the EBay. I am unfortunately selling my 1976 Westfalia due to medical/financial issues. I have owned my Westy since 1990 and 90% restored it. I love this Bus! Here is what I have done. New paint after removing any and all rust 2 years ago. All new window and door seals. Front seats professionally restored and sit great. Rear Upholstery and upper Upholstery in very good shape. Comes with front Child's Cot, Front Drapes for camping, Insect screen for the rear, Dining table, Replaced upper pop up tent with new $500 tent. Engine is a fully rebuilt 2.0 liter fuel injected engine. It has approx 30,000 miles on it. Transmission is a manual 4 speed that was fully rebuilt approx 5 miles ago. Comes with a trailer hitch that mounts to the front (not the rear) that will fir a standard reciever so you can hook up bike racks or luggage racks! What does it need- Could use new carpet-I simply have a foam like play mat in the cabin since we actually use our camper. Could use a new stereo. This has been a great bus and I can't give it away! I have tons of extra parts for this bus-lights, switches, seals, lens covers, windows. I live 15 miles south of Atlanta, GA. Buyer arranges pick-up Delivery Sold As-Is without warranty. The strong points of this car are that it looks almost like a new car, except for the rear bumper which is almost as good as new. The engine and transmission seem to be in fine running order and the front seats are new and in the original upholstery. I have seen totally restored models of this bus sell for as much as $30,000 and higher. At this point, I can not afford to put a lot more money into this. I would never have purchased this bus had I know what I know now. I am willing to take a loss on this. If I was more mechanically inclined I would probably keep it and make it a project.
