Vehicle Detail
Previously advertised at $4,000 (item 180913607416), get it now for a LOT less! This is a NO RESERVE auction of a CLASSIC 1993 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor! About this Crown Vic P71: this Police Interceptor is in fair-good condition with about 131k miles. I have the Auto Check report, send an email to request a copy. I bought this Police Interceptor from the Waco Police Department a few years ago (probably 2008 or 2009) as a project car. This was not a squad car (absence of spotlights) but it was in active law enforcement duty (2 VHF radio antennas). Although this Police Interceptor was retired and was parked for an undetermined amount of time, all I had to do to bring it home was: air up the tires, install a fresh battery and fill up the fuel tank. I had no problems driving it a 100 miles to Dallas then and I do not see any problems driving this car anywhere today. For the past 3-4 years, I have slowly worked on the idea upgrading a classic, older style Crown Victoria with newer Lincoln Town components (e.g. wheels, interior, etc). The upgrade of the interior is about 90% finished. Installed is a complete, matching set of front & rear seats from a 2002 Lincoln Town car. These leather seats are in very good condition, they do not have any rips or tears but just may need a little cleaning. Both front seats are 6-way power and have airbags from the factory. The door panels and rear deck are from a later model (1999) Crown Victoria. All newer electric switches are wired to work and all power options (locks, windows, side mirrors) are fully functional except for driver-side rear window (motor is good but regulator needs adjustment). I have all other matching 1999 model interior trim pieces. These have not been installed because carpet and headliner needs to be installed first. Depending on the final sale price, I may include a brand new carpet with the sale. The window tint is mostly OK but the passenger side window tint needs to be replaced. I've installed an aftermarket, detachable-face AM/FM radio CD player As seen in the photos, bodywork is needed in driver-side fender. I believe a replacement of the fender is the better option. Most bodyshops will charge $300-$500 to fix and paint the dent but there's plenty of these cars in boneyards and most of them are white (surprise, surprise!) Fenders are about $25-$50 (YMMV). Some paint has flaked off the corner left rear bumper. A local paint shop has quoted $125 to paint the entire rear bumper. The rear "Crown Victoria" emblem in the trunk was broken off when I got the car but I have a replacement emblem and it is included with the car. The headlights work but the car would look a lot better with a new set of headlights. A matching set of 16" wheels from a 2002 Lincoln Town Car are now on the car but are missing center caps. Tires are in fair serviceable condition but should probably be replaced. The 4.6L engine starts right up with a jump (battery is prob still OK but best replaced) On the road, acceleration & performance is adequate for daily driving. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Otherwise, everything else seems to be in good mechanical working order, the vehicle drove straight without any shaking, shimmy or vibration. No check engine light. The factory A/C condenser and compressor were both replaced and was charged full with freon (about $500 spent) but the compressor clutch now requires service/repair/replacement. NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $500 is DUE UPON AUCTION CLOSE. Winning bidder MUST communicate (eBay messaging, eMail or phone) schedule and method of payment. Full payment is DUE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE. Otherwise, item will be offered to the next highest bidders. About the Crown Victoria: Durability, cost and performance are the top requirements of law enforcement agencies, fleet and cab companies. Also, office size interior space & lots of power = comfort & confidence on the freeway. The 5,424 Crown Vics sold in January 2007 far exceeded the 3,526 of the newer Ford Five Hundred which is a more technically advanced full size car with similar passenger space and better fuel economy. It won the Editor's Most Wanted Vehicle in the Large Sedan under $30,000 for 1999, 2001, 2002. Does 1,000,000 miles on the odometer sound strange? Read consumer reviews here About the P71: The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (or simply P71) is the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria. Though the name has been officially in use since 1992, the 1979–1991 full-size LTDs and LTD Crown Victorias and 1992 updated body style used the "P72" production code designation for both fleet/taxi and police models. From 1993–1998, the police car models of Crown Victorias were officially known as Crown Victoria P71s. The current major design of the car was introduced in 1998. It is one of the most widely-used automobiles in North American police departments, and due to the workhorse nature of the vehicle, is also used by many taxi companies. Since Chevrolet dropped the rear-drive Caprice, Ford has had a near-monopoly on the market for police cruisers because of a preference for its conventional rear-wheel drive, V8 power, and body-on-frame construction, all popular with police driving techniques. As one of the few remaining passenger cars with body-on-frame, it is rugged, and enables inexpensive repairs after minor accidents without the need to straighten the chassis - an important benefit for a car frequently used by police forces for PIT maneuvers (ramming a car to spin it out) - making it preferable to unibody vehicles. Although the Police Interceptor is not sold to the general public, these cars are widely available on the used car market in the US and Canada once they are no longer needed for law enforcement or fleet duty. When these cars are built they come equipped with a heavy duty transmission, heavy duty brakes, a roll bar, and a 250HP engine. Used Police Interceptors are normally stripped of any police decals, radio and computer equipment and emergency lights by law enforcement agencies before being sold or auctioned.
