Vehicle Detail

Hello, this is Tom Donney in Fort Dodge, Iowa. You can research my name and see all my Saabs and Saab tips I have made on my site. (ebay won't let me type it or they remove my listing.) This car was listed once before on Ebay and within 10 hours it was at $8100 with the reserve met but it got pulled off and my account suspended because I listed my website. So I listed it on another of my accounts but did not get the reserve met -only got to $6600,nor did it get the followers that it would have gotten if it would have stayed on my usual account. So I'm listing it again. Hopefully no more issues! Up for Sale is my Light Blue 1960 SAAB 93f Bullnose, 850cc, single carb, two stroke, 3 cylinder gas/oil mixer. I had planned on keeping this car for my driver but recent purchases have put too many cars in my garage...60 plus Saabs including the recent Saabs from the Saab USA Heritage Collection! So like any good collection or museum, I need to keep rotating some inventory. I bought this car from a guy in Kansas several years ago. He said it had a rebuilt engine (kinda true), which the local Chevy dealer could never get running, and he claimed it was a "Rust Free" chassis. He was right, the rust was all free...he didn't charge me anything for all the rust! I have since replace most the floor panels (we make our own panels now) and a lot of the rocker area. Now it really is "rust free" throught out the floor and rockers! (I have more pictures if you want to see replaced panels (and the last four pictures are a photo series of the right front "rocker/firewall/floor pan area" to show "before", "during" and "after" work progression.) This will also give you an idea of the kind of total rust repair we can do for your Vintage Saab as a new service we now offer! The engine was kinda rebuilt, however the rebuilder decided not to bore the block so the pistons had way too much slap (.009" plus) in the woren out bore and therefore low compression and impossible to start. It is now totally different engine and it has new pistons, rebuilt crankshaft (by me), properly machined cylinder head (and squish) and freshly bored to 71mm. It has less than 250 miles since the engine rebuild and it feels stronger everytime I drive it, which I still am. This is a very original looking car in many areas and reflects the lower miles on the car of 56K. This bullnose has a freshly rebuilt 850cc (not 750cc) bullnose engine with single carb and a rebuilt 3 speed transmission. I did all the work myself. Freewheel works perfect. It also has a ton of new parts. They include: new Skandix Exhaust System, Pertronix pointless ignition system with locked distributor, new battery, rebuilt starter, rebuilt generator/water pump (with proper updates for better flow), rebuilt 4 core radiator (Original was 3 core), all new hoses, new fuel pump and hoses, new air and fuel filters, rebuilt overhead fan shaft, new front wheel bearing, excellent inner drivers, and complete new brake system including stainless steel braided brake hoses and new wheel cylinders and shoes. (I can not find a reciept for the master cylinder however I am 99.99% sure it was rebuilt) The brake system and the emergency brake works perfect...well for an old Saab that is. In any other car you would say they are very bad! :) This is a very nice driving car and can be driven home by you....where ever home is. However it is never a good idea to put a "Green Saab two stroke person" onto the long lonesome highways without some butt time by yourself first with short trips. Kinda like mixing a "Green broke horse" with a "Green broke rider"....makes a poor color combination! That said I would not hesitate taking this car anywhere. That's what I did all the work for. It has newer good tires in correct two stroke size of 155x15" with white wall inserts. It has a working "wind-up" clock, and the gauges all work and I have free'd up the cables for the heater or vents too, however the heater valve in an old Saab on a warm day never seem to shut off. See the video at the bottom as this is a "pull type" starter soleniod....the most fun of all the old Saabs. People are always "amazed" you have to "pull start" your car.....well the soleniod that is :) My wife and I took this for a quick trip the other day for our 32nd anniversay and I was amazed at all the people who waved and yelled out they loved the car....it gets a lot of attention. I have OEM keys for all the locks and they all work....rare for an old Saab for sure! Even my "oh so original" Black 1960 93f with only 14,000 doesnt have keys for the doors and the trunk! This car will look real good in the ebay pictures but the paint is NOT good quality. It is an older restore and the paint shines pretty good but was not a high end job when done by someone years ago. They did NOT smooth the body out perfect and now time has added many years of small dings and bumps in addition. It gets lots of looks when I drive it around but it is no where near show quality. It is driver quality, but it still looks great as a driver and as I have said....people LOVE this Blue color and shape. There are some scratches on the passenger side of the windshield from old wipers but may be able to be buffed out. Also the front park/turn lens are there but are cracked and kind of glued/weather sealed together. The car does come with OEM owners manual and good aftermarket repair manual. There is still some rust (free of charge :) where the top of the rear fenders meets the body. Common spot for 93's. It is easy to see with the rear fenders off when we Just today put in all brand new fender welting. But you can't fix it without taking a chance of messing up the paint job. Not terrible, but it is through into the trunk in a few small spots (it is sealed now). The new welting hides almost all of it, but it will need to be fixed, when and if, you decide to paint the car. I can even fix it (for a fee) if you want to paint the car right away but I would recommend driving and enjoying for awhile. The bumpers and over rides are all in great to perfect shape with some even being NOS ones I put on it. The front overrides are rechromed/near perfect; the rear have minor blemishes. The bumpers' splash guards are in the trunk and not on the car. The car does have new mud flaps. The interior is an older restore and the drivers back seat top seam shows some wear and has some seperation. The door panels are showing their age and could use some work. Someone re-did the seats many years ago in a "not saab style" To me they are fine but are more "western" looking than Swedish :) I have a new front floor mat in the car as well as new wheel wheel matting that we custom make in our shop. I also have new side window seals/wipers on the car (expensive). This is a very fun car that is easy to start and drive. Good Swedish fun! All lights work (except license plate light are in the trunk on the bumper splash shield :). As with all my cars, if you win the bid and do not feel I have represented the car properly, I will refund your deposit and you do not have to buy the car. It is that easy. I will work with you if you contact me regarding any changes you might need in payments and pickup. It can sit here for a while...not a problem. Any questions feel free to call me anytime, 515-368-7222 (SAAB) thanks and Safe Saab'in. Tom Donney On Jun-27-12 at 11:00:07 PDT, seller added the following information:
