Vehicle Detail
RELISTED with a lower reserve and a lower “buy it now” I have 7 vehicles, 5 of which are toys so something has to go. I will also have the truck professionally detailed (although it really doesn’t need it) as I want it to arrive fresh and clean for the new owner. I will try to be as thorough and precise as possible in my description because of that please accept my apologies if this is a little long and lengthy but I want to be as complete as possible. I understand how difficult it is to buy something sight unseen and I definitely know the disappointment when it not what you expected. Let me first say this is a 47 year old truck and I’ll do my best to cover everything I can think of and remember, but if I miss something please understand it is not intentional, so please feel free to contact me or even call if you have questions I didn’t cover or would like to speak to a real person. This truck is sold as is, where is and with no warrantee expressed or implied. I will of course cooperate with any shipping arrangement by the buyer and will be happy to store the vehicle for a reasonable amount of time upon the completed sale and payment. I also welcome an inspection if you’re local and if not, I hope the pictures and description along with any question will ease any concerns or worry. You can also check out my feedback, almost 1300 transactions and 100% positive. I don’t do a lot of sales as it is not my business or source of income. I tend to clean out and go through things about once a year for clean up and make room for new goodies. Everything I have done has been upfront and honest, I generally tend to “down” play my items so upon arrival they’re much nicer than expected. It’s always a pleasant surprise to receive more than you hoped for or expected. Today I’m selling my 1965 Ford F-100 “Custom Cab” from what I understand a bit rare, it’s also a standard box, sorry I know the short boxes are more popular but this one is standard length. I’m the third owner of this truck and am personal friends with the second owner so I know almost all of the history. The truck was purchased from the original owner back in 1992 with approximately 96k original actual miles. The second owner repainted it in 1993 by a professional painter who was also a classic car enthusiast so it was done right maintaining the Factory color (which still shines like new) and installed an electronic ignition module in the distributor to eliminate the points and condenser but still maintaining the original distributor assembly. It has also had the radiator and heater core replaced recently and has always had the normal maintenance items performed that you would expect. I pestered him to sell me the truck for almost two years and he finally broke down and let me buy it. He was tired of paying insurance and registration along with maintaining it for something that just sat in the garage, afraid to use it or drive for fear something would get damaged or messed up. He owned the truck for almost 20 years and only put less than 21K on it, so now it sitting with apx. 117K original miles and I have it. I bought it with the intent of having a REALLY nice classic work truck that I could use but would not abuse. Something I could haul some stuff in and not worry about. Well I’m really a “fix up” kind of guy and started to go through this thing way more than I should have or really indented to. I had the carburetor professionally rebuilt, replaced the fuel pump and filter along with the fuel line. I also did a complete tune up to include cap, rotor, plugs and wires along with a complete oil, filter and lube with all fluids checked. The engine is a 352cu in V8 and runs VERY well, NO smoking or strange noises, doesn’t overheat or have any issues of any kind that I’m aware of. I would trust this truck to drive across country, with no problems what so ever, I’m that sure of it. The coolant is nice and green with no signs of rust or contaminates, belt and hoses are also good and the battery is a new Interstate not some cheap crap. The clutch was replaced just before I received it but someone installed a new but rebuilt clutch assy. And it has a very slight chatter when taking off from a stop so I have purchased another new complete clutch kit to solve that little problem. Please note: the current clutch does NOT slip and works fine and is new so it really doesn’t need replacement, as I mentioned I’m picky and wanted it perfect. I have not installed the clutch as I was just going to wait until it was needed or failed, but I have it and will include it to the new owner, again the current clutch was replaced and will last for another 100K but if the slight chatter bothers you I am including a new clutch with a pressure plate and bearing. There is also a VERY very slight trans leak at the front seal, which doesn’t seem to affect the fluid level, it’s that minor but I also bought a new seal to replace it with when I did the clutch. The engine is dry with no leaks to speak of and doesn’t spot my garage. The tires are very good showing about 80% tread life left and NO signs of adverse tire wear. The front end is tight, no shimmy or shake. Since it is a three speed on the column and if you have ever driven one of those ( I personally hate them) they often take a little finesse on the shifting but everything works fine and no weird or unusual noises. I also installed new door rubber seals (factory replacements) as the original ones were shot but since the new seals are nice and thick the doors are a little hard to close until they break in. I told you I was picky, but want to disclose everything even if it’s minor. I replaced the headliner and sun visors with OEM copies painted to match the originals. The seat was completely reupholstered although it’s not factory it is period correct and looks much better with matching door panel inserts. The dash has been modified from the prior owner for a stereo and it was junk so I installed a nice Kenwood and two small box speakers under the seat that sound pretty good. It won’t “thump” going down road or blow out the windows of the car next to you but will supply a nice normal clean sound while driving. The body is all stock and almost completely rust free being a Southern California truck its entire life. There is some very minor rust along the drip rail above the windshield, a common area of concern and sadly fairly normal but the bed, frame and under hood are clean as can be. The floor of the cab is also perfect. The body is straight with only very minor normal tiny blemishes hardly worth mentioning. Again this is a 47 year old truck so it’s not “show” quality but it is VERY nice and wouldn’t take much to be showable and is far better than what I’ve seen at the “cruise nights” This truck is without a doubt an eye catcher for sure and not far off of being truly spectacular. I tried to include a lot of pictures of everything I would want to see if I were considering this type of purchase, The windows and door locks work as they should and the electrical system is fine and all stock. I have tried to show the good as well as the bad, although there really isn’t that much bad. Now at this point you may be wondering why after spending as much time and money as I did why I would be selling it? Simple really, two reasons. One, I made it too nice for my needs and now I won’t use it for what I bought it for and I’m spoiled. Yes, I like A/C and an auto trans, along with power brakes and steering, none of which this truck has. We’re moving to Texas next year and I needed a “farm” truck. This is NOT a farm truck so I bought a nice older Ford pickup (with A/C) that I won’t mind if it gets hurt on the ranch. I think I covered everything, but if there’s something I missed or questions you may have, please feel free to Email or call me and I’ll do my best to answer whatever I can. Thanks Scott 909-730-1153 P.S. I took quite of few pictures and a lot of the undercarriage to show just how rust free and solid this truck is, hope it helps. Just a footnote: I have this truck for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells or I trade it. Thanks again and enjoy! I would like a $1,000.00 dollar non-refundable deposit via pay-pal to assure that the buyer is serious and the balance due within 10 days of the auctions closer by cash, cashier’s check, balance transfer or wire whichever is convenient to you, but will not release the vehicle until payment has cleared. Thanks for the understanding, just too many problems out there and I would like us both to have a happy, trouble fee transaction. Good morning, I wanted to add a few things I’ve remembered or have discovered since I posted the listing and keep everyone current. Yesterday I noticed a low tire so I took it down to the tire store to have it inspected and found a defective valve stem; I had them replace all four of them. My feeling was if one was bad the others had to be close behind so do them all, no other recommendations were noted but since I’m on the subject of tires I want to let you know it does not have a spare tire. I had forgotten about that, however it does have the factory under the bed holder for it and the tire guys managed to put a couple of small dents in the hubcaps while reinstalling them, I’m pretty sure them will “pop” out but their there. I know it’s a small thing but wanted it out there. This morning bright and early I had a gentleman call me on the truck and we did a very intense walk around while on the phone and I thought I would share his questions and concerns along with a couple of things I noticed or forgot to mention. His biggest concern was what was under the 12 year old paint and if there was any filler/bondo and if there was any rust hidden. Well I walked around the entire truck with a magnet (small pocket type)checking all the normal area’s that would be an issue and found the only “mud” was a VERY very small amount on the left rear just behind the wheel. I put my hand behind and found NO signs of rust or damage and it was done so well it is unnoticeable, had I not used magnet I would of never seen it or known it was there and again that’s all I found. The doors are more than solid, I had the panels off even the inside was perfect and NO issues of any kind anywhere else on the truck except one small spot, I mentioned the drip rails having some rust and showed them in the pictures, on the right side above the door there is some bubbling coming thought, as mentioned in one of the questions I don’t believe it is any more than a grind and fill and is in the same area as the drip rail (right below it) it isn’t bad enough to need any metal replacement and really is very minor but again it’s there and I wanted to disclose everything I can think of or find no matter now minor. The rest of the truck and cap are beautiful with no issues or signs of anything that I can find, and I look really hard to find them. Please understand it’s still a 47 year old truck but it’s also the BEST un-restored 47 year old truck I’ve ever come across, I truly believe whoever gets this will be more than happy and satisfied, it’s that straight and clean the pictures really don’t do it justice. I also wanted to mention that mirrors and brackets were replaced with brand new OEM replacements. The old ones had broken brackets (a common problem) so I bought new brackets and decided the mirrors were just to faded and dull along with some pitting on them so I bought a complete set of mirrors and brackets, just wanted you to know there new and perfect and also come with an extra set of new brackets as well. I think I’ve covered everything and maybe a little more than I needed to but wanted to be as complete as possible. Thanks.
