Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1959 Peugeot 403 sedan. It is in very good running condition. These cars are very rare and almost impossible to find in the condition that this one is in. The motor was completely rebuilt a couple of thousand miles ago, clutch replaced as well. The car has had a restoration in 2009 including a paint job, new rubber for the front and back windshield. and all of the doors and trunk. New carpet was installed at that time. The interior was redone as well. The blue paint color was matched to a factory sample. The interior has the front and back seats from a 2002 Honda Accord Luxury sedan, the seats are leather and they are much more comfortable than the original Peugeot seats. The headliner, door fabric and dash are grey in color. They were installed at the time of the restoration using generic materials as the original Peugeot interiors are no longer produced. The windows appear to be original, they all operate well, the doors all work well. There does not appear to be any rust in any part of the car, the floors are sound. The trunk is in good condition. It comes with the hand crank for starting the motor and the original spark plug wrench and what appear to be the original jack and jack handle spanner. The trunk has been recarpeted. The brakes work well, the tires have lots of tread however there is age cracking on the inside of all of them. The motor starts up and idles well, it makes no funny noises and does not smoke. There is a tiny oil leak at the rear main seal, The motor has plenty of power and the transmission shifts well. I installed a cd player with a tuner and usb input, I put a speaker under each of the front seats. The speedometer, horn, windshield wipers, clock, odometer, trip meter, all exterior and interior lights, heater and fan all work. The car is fun to drive, I have driven it on drives of a couple of hundred miles with no issues whatsoever, the motor does not overheat. The sunroof works well and does not leak. The car tracks and drives well with no pulling or shimmy. It is certainly the nicest 403 that I have seen in many years in the USA. There are still many replacement parts to be had from ebay and the internet for this model car. The car will be sold as is, where is with no warranty implied or expressed. Any serious buyer is welcome to come to where the care is in Port Townsend Washington and inspect and take a drive in it after showing proof of funds. The buyer will be responsible for the shipping of the car. Please ask any questions before bidding.
