Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a rare 2001 BMW 740iL maintained religiously by a BMW enthusiast. Non smoker, no pets. I am the 2nd owner. In the vehicle history it says 3 because it is counting the dealer I purchased it from as owner #2. Last year of the e38 shape, also the best year with the upgraded lights and more horsepower than the 95-99s. This one has widescreen navigation, CD changer, heated seats, heated steering wheel, rear sunshades all around, power rear windshield sunshade, moonroof, power everything, rear A/C and heat, rear foot rests, rear cupholders, steering wheel radio controls, and I'm sure I'm missing other stuff. I have receipts of recent work done to the car to make the car mechanically perfect for $3,000. I knew I would sell it soon so I took it to the dealer and asked them for a list of anything wrong with it. They identified some oil leaks and brakes, and new front suspension parts, so I got all of the work done at a local BMW mechanic shop (Bimmerworks, West Chester) for cheaper. While doing the repairs, we also did a tune up, transmission fluid change, new water pump, and some other smaller preventative items. All OEM parts. The car is mechanically perfect now without a single fluid leak or squeak. You can buy cheaper BMW 7 series easily, but if the maintenance is not up to date you will be in for a surprise as soon as the first thing breaks. If you are shopping for this car then you already know an old BMW is not cheap to maintain. Do yourself a favor and buy one that has been maintained correctly. In addition to being on top of the maintenance, I had some fun with the appearance and driving enjoyment of the car as you can see in the pictures. The car has 20 inch OEM BMW wheels off of a 07 760Li. They are known as the style 32 wheels, also almost identical to the ALPINA wheels. The car has all 4 matching Yokohama S-Drive tires - the best tires you can buy for a good deal for BMW 7 series. These tires are one of the few tires that have the right load rating for a sedan this heavy. The tires still have A LOT of treadlife left and only have about 5-7k miles on them. The car has H&R sport springs which lower the car 1.9 inches all around. The ride is stiffer as any car that is lowered, but still quite comfortable and handles better than any 7 series on the road. I also bought an Alpina front bumper spoiler and had it installed and the front bumper repainted when that was done. The car is virtuously scratch-less. There are pics below of when I had the entire car water-sanded and buffed and then compounded and waxed 2 months ago by a custom body shop to make the car scratch free. The paint is a very metallic black called "cosmos metallic pearl." The car has been in no accidents as you can see in the vehicle history report. Hard to find an 01 with over 100k with no accidents and as clean as this one. The interior is in above average condition, but has some scrapes from normal usage. The bad: The car has some dings. I was going to get the paintless dent removal service done real soon but I decided to sell it. They are dings, not dents. ($250.) The paint on the wheels are chipping in small areas. I was going to get this done soon as well from a local shop, but I decided to sell it. ($750.) The rear passenger door ashtray is broken. Does not stay open and close right. See picture below. You can buy this cheap on ebay. ($40). The front drivers door interior panel has a 2 inch rip/crack in it by the compartment area - you can see if it you look close in the picture. The front cupholder doesn't stay open correctly, this is also $100. on ebay. Keep in mind its a 2001 with 100k. If you spend about $1,000. on the car - it can be called perfect. If I kept it another month, I would have made it perfect. The important thing is, the car is mechanically perfect. Engine, Transmission, Suspension, Brakes, Steering, all perfect. Right now I have my eyes set on a 2007 BMW that I'd like to buy but need to sell this one first. I do not have a buy it now price. No matter what I sell it for I will be losing a lot of money. High bidder wins the auction and buys the car. Bring your mechanic if you want to take a look at the car. No joyrides or test drives without seeing cash or a bank certified check in your hand. If you want to see the car before the auction ends, contact me and I will meet you at the King of Prussia mall. I'd like to handle this sale very professionally and if you cannot do that, please don't contact me. Please email me with any questions. Thank you. On Jun-22-12 at 16:10:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction on the 3 owner thing - for some reason I thought the autocheck would count the dealer as owner #2 but it did not. So its legitimately a 2 owner even on paper. On Jun-23-12 at 14:04:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Common question: What size are the tires? They are staggered 245/40/20 in the front and 275/35/20 in the rear.
