1955 MG TF 1500 2-Owner California Car, 51k Original Miles 1955 MGTF for sale. I purchased this MG from Don at West Coast Classics in December of 2011 with hopes to restore it. Unfortunately I became ill and I have not had a chance to restore this little Gem. Please read the history that I was given of this classic car. Purchased new in Pasadena by it's first owner and used lightly until sold to the second owner, a college student in 1969. It was used for one school year to commute from Arcadia to UCLA (about 60 miles round trip). The MG was put into storage in 1970 for the next dozen years. In the early 80's the owner was married and her husband decided to freshen the car up for her to enjoy. The car was taken apart, repainted in its original red, reupholstered and gone through mechanically. Upon completion in around 1983 they divorced and the car was again left in the garage except for it being taken on periodic spins through the neighborhood into the early 90's. Until then it was stored until Don went to look at the car. When Don went to look at the car we opened up this dark garage and pulled back the cover to find this dusty little jewel. He brought the car to Orange County and prepared for a proper cold start. Luckily when it was put into storage the tank was drained. After soaking the cylinders in oil and making a few adjustments to the points, timing and carburetors it started right up. When Don was finished the car started, ran and drove nicely. It was then detailed and looked fantastic. When the car had the West Coast stamp of approval Don listed it and that is when I fell in love with the car and purchased it. The car has some great attributes, original black license plate, a beautiful straight body with nice paint, good chrome (though there is some pitting on the bumpers) and a super healthy low-mile original 1500cc with rare aluminum valve cover. The carpet, door panels and dash are very nice. The seats are patina'd and a new owner may eventually want to reupholster them. The top is cloth and the rear window is clear and pliable. The top frame is in excellent condition as well. The owner had stated that the odometer was working until her husband took the car apart to paint. It hasn't worked since but it also has only been driven a handful of times in their neighborhood since the restoration was completed. Therefore it is believed that the miles are very close to being correct.
