Collector has Street rods, frame off restored muscle cars, woody's, Mopar's, classic trucks, etc and this Mercedes Benz driven 1956 UNIMOG 404 Troop Carrier is one of the many in his collection. Go anywhere in this iconic military, now civilian UNIMOG 404 series. This is one of the best vehicles ever made for ANY purpose use. With the conversion to the aluminum bed this 404 is 1,000lbs lighter than other 404’s. This truck can be driven into the mountains for the ultimate camping adventure, taken down the road at 60mph with its 6 speed transmission to a car show, or used on the farm for everyday tasks! WIth only 25,000 original kilometers (about 15k miles) this 404 has hundreds of thousands of miles ahead of it. This was a German vehicle imported to the US 15 years ago. It was owned by a military collector in California, where it was garaged, and used occasionally in parades. The aluminum bed was put on and intended to do some “light” yard work with the upgraded option but truck has only been used as a sunday driver. Please review its specifications and upgrades: -Matching numbers -Seats are recovered in Mercedes Benz Pigskin leather. -The tires are Continental MPT 81, (Size 275/80R20). This is $2200 in almost new tires -The engine has just had a tune up (new plugs, wires, oil. and filter, new water pump, radiator flush etc.) -The top is the rounded convertible top, typical of the German Unimogs. (We do not have the side curtains for the driver and passenger doors. The top is in fair shape, it attaches to the bracket in the bed) It will come with the vehicle. -The bed is a SCOTT- Lite aluminum bed (All three sides fold down) This bed was a $4000 upgrade. Losing 1000 pounds of original weight. -All fluids have been changed with the right gear oil (non-corrosive to yellow metals)-Dual Tanks and Dual Batteries!! Go ANYWHERE! -This is the shorter wheelbase, which is very rare. -There is no rust, which is also extremely rare. -The truck drives very well, and will do 60 MPH on flat land. -Upgraded electronic ignition In full disclosure, the items that are not 100% show quality as follows: -Along the fenders, the original sealant is coming off. Would be good to reapply a coat over the original -Wiper blades need to be installed -Fog lights are not connected-The paint has some cracks, not perfect This truck is ready for a summer of parades, car shows, AND or work!
