Vehicle Detail
1956 GMC Flatbed Truck up for auction. It has a 55-56 Chevy front end with a 1957 (I think) hood. I got this truck in a trade with the intention of restoring it but plans fell through & I have bills that are due. The truck has a Buick 350 with a 2 barrel carburetor. Automatic transmission. I've replaced the passenger & driver's windows & vent glass & all of the weatherstripping & channels along with it. The rear window is fine & the windshield has a couple of cracks in the corner. I used the light green tinted glass for the doors. I replaced the cardboard glovebox with a wood one that should last forever. I greased the wheel bearings & adjusted & bled the brakes. I changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condensor, & ignition coil. The gas tank has been moved to under the bed & there's plenty of room behind the seat. The seat is original & is in pretty good shape as far as the springs & hardware go. When I got the truck, it didn't have a dash bezel so I made a couple out of walnut. I then found an original dash bezel so you can go either way. Someone cut out a spot for a stereo & a hole in each door for speakers (I hate it when they do that). I replaced the wood in the bed & sealed it with wood preservative on all sides. The teeth are stripped off of the window crank & inner door release handles. I had the same problem on my '67 & stuck a glob of JB Weld in the handle & it's held for 20 years. The truck starts & runs but will need some more work to be a daily driver. The starter sticks & the alternator acts screwy sometimes (over then undercharging). Either unit goes for about $50 at NAPA. There's some surface rust on the cab & the bottoms of the doors will need to be repaired. There are a few dings here & there on the body. The front grill is cherry, $400 at LMC. I haven't driven the truck on the road, it isn't registered. My driveway is about a mile long & I've driven it back & forth & it climbs the hill just fine. The transmisison shifts through al gears perfectly. There is no registration or title for this truck. I've never registered an old vehicle but I've been told that when you do, you'll be listed as the first owner. I have a set of 1956 California plates for this truck. The truck will be sold with a bill of sale only. If there's any problems with DMV, I'm the type of guy that will work with you to make it right. I have some extra parts, a rear window, a hood cowl vent, 2 inner door panels (left & right). I also have a rebuilt steering gear ($400 at LMC). I put some videos on youtube of the truck so you can get a better look at it & see it running. Type in Bruedog101 & it will take you to my videos. If you have any questions, you can email me here or reach me on my cell (559) 392-7020. Click on the link below & it'll take you to a video of the truck. Then you can click on the other videos of the truck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efs0htNuuZw&feature=relmfu The truck is currently in Coarsegold, California. Local delivery can be arranged & I'll work with the winning bidder on getting the truck ready for shipping. International or long distance shipping will be up to the winning bidder.
