Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful truck with its stock lifted chassis(thus called the "highboy" series) and full sized truck bed, actually never left the San Jose, CA area, where it was manufactured 40 years ago, until I drove it across country in 2010. Since then it has been well maintained. Before bringing it cross country I gave her a complete tune up including all hoses and belts. I also installed headers and re-welded the exhaust tubing to fit them. I had a new clutch, breaks, tie rod, and ball joints installed. I put on some Rancho RS5000 shocks just for kicks. Other great mechanical features of this truck include its rebuilt 390 ci engine(with less than 33,000 mles on it) with a dual feed Holley 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed manual transmission, manual locking hubs(although the drivers side hub needs repair), a Dana 60 rear differential, power assist steering, and a trailer hitch. This truck and engine runs well. In fact it tops speeds of over 100 miles per hour without even feeling it. She really roars. Since leaving California the truck has been garage stored for the past two winters and only driven in the Spring and Summer months briefly. It is a solid truck top to bottom with only one rust spot about the size of a silver dollar on the passenger side door(see pics) and one or two superficial spots on the top of its full sized bed. The door drains are completely clear. The beautiful burgundy color was painted over the original gold color by my uncle who was the second owner of the truck. You can see this original color under where the burgundy paint has flaked or worn off in spots. If I were to make this a show truck I would simply remove the body, have it sandblasted down to the bare metal and repainted the original gold color to match the color of much of the interior dashboard. This truck is a Ford enthusiast's or collector's dream. There aren't alot of solid classic trucks like this out there and I hate to see her go but have to sell her for financial reasons.
