Vehicle Detail
Dramatically lowered the opening bid! Up for auction is my 2002 2WD 7.3 Turbodiesel Ford Excursion Limited - with a 4" MBRP aluminized exhaust with a 5" tip. I also replaced my AFE air intake a bit more than a year ago with a Gale Banks Ram Air unit - very pleased with the product. If you are looking at this vehicle, you know pretty much all there is to know about the "King of SUVs". Towing? Yep, about 12,500 lbs worth. Room? Sure - enough to carry 8 passengers? Size? Not much in the consumer class that is bigger - certainly not nowadays. The sound on my truck is unique - very few diesel trucks, regardless of make, ever achieve that cool throaty diesel sound WITH that distinctive "diesel whistle" that you only hear on big rigs. But, boy does this truck whistle! I have owned the vehicle for approximately 7 years. I bought it in Texas. I've since put just a bit more than 100,000 miles on the vehicle. Oil changes have always been with Valvoline Premium Blue and rare is the occasion that those oil changes weren't done between every 3,000 and 4,500 mile interval. I had the entire front end rebuilt at approximately 107,000 miles. If you are looking at Excursions - make sure you confirm that this service has been completed on your prospective purchase? Why - well Ford, in their infinite wisdom, architected the front ends on these trucks to fail. There isn't a single grease fitting on the entire vehicle - so the front ends literally grind themselves away. I had this service done at a Ford dealership and it is not cheap - over $1500 not cheap. Everything else on this vehicle is bone stock original. I have not run a tuner on this truck - nor has it ever been chipped. In the last 7 years, I probably have towed a Boy Scout trailer or a friends boat trailer no more than 8 or 9 times. I even took care of the typical "Ford Leather" problem on the driver's side bolster and arm rest with an excellent repair by a local upholstery shop. Brown Bread (Dynamat type material) from the firewall to the back of the second row of seats and in all of the doors on this truck. It dramatically reduced the sound of road noise inside the vehicle. You can probably tell from the picture - but yes, those are AGM batteries as well. One Optima and one Diehard (price them out - these aren't $69 Walmart specials). This truck is not without it's blemishes. The previous owner installed a TV tuner and antenna system - which appears to have required the removal of the windshield. The installer must have cut into the paint on the upper window frame - as there is rust on the top-side of the frame itself (see photos). This winter, the combination of the rust and cold introduced a stress fracture in the windshield, which spread across the bottom 1/4 from center to corner. The front bumper has scuffs and blemishes and a surface rust bubble. Beyond the window frame and bumper - the body on this truck is straight and rust free. Also, the DVD screens and back-up camera do not work - there is a video distribution unit in the truck, but when I had some difficulty with the power feeds I lost interest in trying to get them fired up again (the kids have Kindles and iPhones and every other manner of electro-device now). The truck will need tires and new damper shocks on the upper tailgate window. To make sure that there are no surprises - here is the list of items that require attention on this vehicle: Tires will need to be replaced, with an alignment Windshield is crackedUpper windshield frame has 3 rust areas - windshield gasket was sealed with silicone at local body shop and it does not leakDVD players and back-up camera currently not workingTailgate damper shocks fadingBack barn door panel loose (interior) The pluses?Regular, documented maintenance (tons of receipts for this truck - I've saved them all)Super strong mechanical conditionStill looks good - I'd call her a good "15 footer"Bone stock - diesel not tampered withThe truck has not been towed hard, driven hard or abused in the years that I've owned itBuy with confidence from an eBayer with 100% positive feedback - and who has been a member with the same ID since 1999! Given how long I've been on eBay, you'll understand the following conditions and why I am communicating them. I will not end the auction early. I will not lower the reserve to end the auction early. I will not engage in a sale of this vehicle outside of eBay; unless it is to sell the vehicle locally (and I do reserve the right to end this auction early if a local buyer purchases this vehicle). This vehicle is sold as-is, where-is with no personal warranties or guarantees. I will not sell the vehicle for export and will only sell the vehicle to a buyer in the United States. I have title in hand for this truck. I DO NOT need to sell this vehicle - the only reason I'm placing it up for sale is that we have too many vehicles and it is time for something to be let go from the stable.
