Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an all original 1982 Mazda RX-7 GSL in excellent original condition. My wife and I purchased this car new for our son when he graduated from college. He lovingly took care of this car and used it as a fun car for many years. It was in dry storage for seven years, until last fall. He wanted to sell it and I purchased it from him thinking I would keep it for him if he changed his mind. I always thought he would show it in the original class at an Antique Automobile club of America show. However, I don't really have space for it so I am going to sell it. After seven years of storage, it started right up, but the clutch was stuck, so I had a new clutch, throw-out bearing, pressure plate, clutch master and slave cylinder installed. Of course the tires were dry rotted and it needed a new battery. So these were purchased for the car. It is the top of the line GSL model for 1982 with five speed Syncromesh manual transmission, aluminum wheels, body side molding, cruise control, halogen, flip-up head lamps, intermittent wipers, limited slip differential, rear anti roll bar, rear disc brakes, rear window defroster, rear window wiper and washer, remote control door mirrors, remote fuel filler door release, removable sunroof, tinted glass, AM/FM stero casette w/4 speakers, day/night rear-view mirror, full cut-pile carpet, power windows, quartz digital clock, reclining front seats, side window demisters, tachometer and voltmeter, and vanity mirror on right sun-visor. This car was purchased new from a Mazda dealer in Indiana, PA and comes with original paper work, including the owners manual, window sticker, pre delivery inspection sheet, air conditioner operating booklet and warranty, PA Odometer Milage Statement, Mazda Warranty, and more. The original window sticker has a total price of $12,064.00. The original leatherette bag for storage of the sun-roof, when it is removed is present and in near mint condition. As you can see from the photos, it is a nice straight original car. It runs great, but I am not saying it is in mint condition. The drivers seat is torn a little at the left back seam, the black leatherette trim on the top of the drivers door has some small holes in it, the drivers door mirror is a little loose and the car has a low whistling sound at idle. The original silver paint looks great at a distance, but is showing some fading in spots. There were a few surface rust spots (around the sun-roof, rear window and lower bottom of the right door) that I had sand blasted and touched up. This car is a real eye catcher, and with a little tender loving care would make a great show car or a nice driver. On Jun-13-12 at 07:57:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I was asked by an interested party to pull the storage bins out that are behind the seats to check for rust in the wheel wells and floor. There are four Phillips screws that hold them in, and I took them out for a look. It is just like new under there. The silver paint is perfect and there is padding/sounddeadner that is in perfect, mint condition. Absolutely no rust in there!............Charlie
