1979 International Scout II – 345 V-8 / 727 Transmission My loss could be your gain. In the time I have been upgrading this Scout my family has multiplied and my time with the Scout has become limited. So I have decided, to give someone else the opportunity to continue restoring this American classic. My focus of the restoration was not mechanical because the motor is strong and performs quite well; it was to focus on the little things that would prepare the Scout for the paint booth. This Scout does leak a little oil as most do. Below I have listed the work that has taken place over the past 2 years. This Scout still has its original engine and to my knowledge has not been rebuilt. A mechanic performed a compression check and the motor was strong and did not need a rebuild. Here is a list of the things which have been added to and recently repaired: Optima Battery – Red Top Installed a 4 inch suspension lift - Skyjacker Installed a 3 inch body lift Installed customer front and rear bumpers – ready for a winch (SEE PICS) Replaced steering gear box - Autozone Installed a drop pitman arm – IH North Installed a complete custom steering system – Ruff Stuff Specialties (SEE PICS) Installed Borgeson Steering Joint – Upper and Lower Replaced and installed 4.11 gears – Rack-N-Pinion Replaced all ball joints, drive shaft u joints, etc Installed aftermarket frame bracing and pan hard bar on rear axle Pro – Comp Shocks all around New brakes, seals and turned rotors New radiator, hoses and thermostat New 1406 Edlebrock carburetor - Weber New Ignitor Electronic Ignition conversion New MSD 6A multiple spark ignition control system New MSD plug wire set Installed Headers and Flow Master Dual Exhaust 33 Inch Hankook Tires – Classic Alloy Wheels New stereo and speakers. (Polk Audio Marine Speakers) Replaced drivers side cab support bracket Replaced passenger side rocker panel Original Russet Interior needs to be replaced This Scout is ready for a new home and a paint booth.
