Vehicle Detail

1976 International Scout II, Originally owned by a IH employee, he bought it new and literally drove it until the day he died. After his death it was handed down to me by his family and I began the process of restoring it. The restoration took years and is still not totally restored, but I don't think a project like this could ever truly be considered complete. Like painting the Golden Gate Bridge it will always need something. But I am proud of the work that I did and the old Scout looks pretty darn good as is reliable and could be used as a daily driver. This Scout still has its original engine that was rebuilt years ago before I owned it and still runs strong. I have not done much to the motor except for replacing some leaky valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets. As well as tune ups and things like that. This Scout has been garage kept since I have owned it But here is a list of the things I did (that I can remember) most of this list is fairly recent:New battery (last week)Replaced steering gear box (this year) Replaced all ball joints, tie rod ends, drive shaft u joints, and one front axle (this year) (still needs front end alignment)Installed aftermarket frame bracing/steering stabilizerReplaced A727 automatic transmission Replaced motor mounts with aftermarket polyurethane type. Nothing else is availableReplaced bushings in leaf springs with new polyurethane typeReplaced all rubber bushings between chassis and body with polyurethane typeNew shock absorbersReplaced wiper motorNew radiator fan shroudNew radiator hoses and thermostatNew carburator New 15x7 Mickey Thompson Classic II WheelsNew 31x10.50x15 Goodrich AT Radials (less than 100 miles on these)Aftermarket 2 inch lift kit (just taller shackles, nothing radical)New poly fuel cellReplaced all guages and fixed all dash lightsNew stereo and speakers. (speakers are in the seat bases)New Warn Lock out hubs (added after these pictures were taken)Rusted out floorboards were replaced with purchased replacement pieces and the whole floor was rhinolinedAll window and door rubber replacedNew headliner was made from a wallboard material intended for bathroom walls. (it really looks good though)New molded carpets front and rearNew sidmarker lights, taillight, and turn signal lenses repalced with new aftermarket replacementsAll the paint and body work was done about two years ago (the turquoise color is the same as they used on Camero's in the late 60's and has a little metal flake it looks good)
