Vehicle Detail

1969 Porsche 912 TargaOriginial 3 owner car - Un-restored / Un-Molested. The Story:I bought this car in 2002 in San Rafael, CAIt was purchased new at the old Porsche dealer in Burlingame, CA (just south of SFO)and lived in Marin County from 1969 - 2002 (2 owners)I have ALL the reciepts and repair bills dating back to 1969.I would love to keep it but I no longer have storage for it. What's Great about it:As you know, The 1969 912 Targa is the most sought after of all the 912's as it is the only 912 to have the 69-73 2nd generation 911 body. They only made 801, 1969 912 Targas, This is number 648.This car runs great, has the 5 speed transmission and is un-restored. I have replaced the shocks / brake lines / exhaust and done yearly tuneups.I may have added 10-12k miles in the last 10 years.Solex Carbs.Targa roof is not in pictures but in great shape and included. It was involved in a small fender bender in the early 80's and repaired by the first owner.I only discovered this after reading one of the many reciepts that come with the car.It even has the leather Porsche key holder. What's not as great:This car is a great for someone looking to start with a great 912, drive it for a few more years and then restore it.It does have a small dent in the passenger side door (see photos)This car has a few rust bubbles in the bottoms of both doors. This is very common. They were there when i bought it ten years ago.The pans and under the hood are in very good shape.Driver's seat has a tear, I didn't want to fix with non originial seat material. The doors bubbles keep me from being able to say it's "Rust Free", However, this is all very minor.A few things don't work, the defroster in the back window and the heat isn't very good.It does have a scratch in the windshild and the key needs a copy made as it's twisted. (Still Works)The door pockets are in place but the passenger side one needs work.Radio is from the 70's, small speakers added behind door pockets in 70's This Car is in Raleigh, NC and available for inspection.I reserve the right to cancel this auction if a local buyer meets the reserve. On May-26-12 at 09:35:21 PDT, seller added the following information: The Engine Number is:4096025and the VIN is:129010628 CorrectionThis car is # 628 of the 801 1969 Porsche 912 Targa's made, not # 648.On May-29-12 at 05:13:46 PDT, seller added the following information: i have added a video to you tube go to that site and put this in. /watch?v=P5D6SzcS7_Q&feature=youtu.be it's the car doing a 0-70 run a few days agoOn Jun-02-12 at 14:16:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I will add a few more picturesI discovered the Original Owner's maunal and the original Maintenance record from the dealershipThe engine numbers match.Car was purchased on June 26th 1969 with 6 miles on it.at Burlingame Car Pacific805 Burlingame Rd(First Oil change was on July 1st 1969) I took a look under the doors and the passenger door has no rust on the underside of it, the driver's door has a tiny bit.Seems like most of the tool kit is in place.Spare is in great condition as is the area around the gas tank and battery.
