For Sale : '72 4X4 DODGE CREW (FULL 4 DOORS) STEP SIDE SHORT BED (6.5 FT BED) This Crew cab truck is pretty unique and somewhat rare! There were not a lot of 1972 Crew Cab Dodge trucks made and not many crew cab trucks made period. This truck is an ex forest service truck and therefore has been maintained quite well. It was mechanically maintained very well while the State of Utah owned it. It was sold to the public and this is when I purchased it. I still have the 1988 title that was issued when the truck was bought and registered by the general public. For the year, the truck is in decent shape. The body does need some body work to restore to a perfect condition but is totally drivable how the truck sits. It runs and starts with the first turn of the ignition. The truck has sat for a while so I am running off a gas can right now. The gas that is in the tank smells a little old and I do not want to run it through the carb. The brakes are iffy as well. With the amount of time it has sat, I would suggest doing the brake wheel cylinders, the rubber has probably dried out and I would suggest doing them before you drive it. The transmission and drivetrain is till in great shape. The transmission goes in gear and moves the truck forward and or backwards. The Power Take Off (PTO) lever is in the center floor and engages the PTO from the divorced transfer case. The divorced transfer case is ideal for many reasons, but one reason is that it is driven by a drive shaft between the transmission and the transfer case. This is nice because any drive train power package and transmission can be used. A cummins diesel is what I thought about installing into this truck. As far as I can tell the truck is considered a Power Wagon. It is not badged as a power wagon but it has all of the gear that comes on a power wagon. The Dana 60 front and rear axles are 8 lug. The title says it is a W20. I see this as a W200 or a 3/4 ton 4x4. The w100's were 1/2 tons and w300's were 1 ton's. The divorced transfer case with PTO is also a characteristic of the power wagon's of the era. Check Wikipedia for all the info on w200's. The truck is a good running truck that is not in terrible shape. Like I said it does need bodywork to be perfect, but with very minor work it could be a daily driver how it sits. Email me and I will send you the link to the photo bucket album. For some reason Ebay will not allow that link either. You may call me if you like.
