Vehicle Detail
This 96 powerstroke was bought new (or very nearly so) by my dad. I bought it from him at a little over 135K. It has been meticulously maintained with only the best parts and regular oil changes, etc. It runs strong. I would drive it anywhere. I drove it doing only the normal things (brakes, fuel pump, water pump, u-joints, master cylinder, idler pulley, alternator, belts, hoses, etc). At 183K, I converted it to run on free used fry (vegetable) oil. I drove lots of highway miles with my work and loved not having to pay for fuel. It is pretty addicting. I bought two more powerstrokes for my wife and I, and am almost completed with converting both of them. I had also converted my son’s truck. I will include the process for easily filtering and preparing the waste oil with this sale. I drove it primarily on oil until around 205K when an intake valve spring broke (completely unrelated to the oil conversion). I took it to my mechanic expecting to be replacing the motor. The mechanic wanted to look at the motor, too, expecting it to show evidence of running on the oil. We were both pleasantly surprised to find the engine exceptionally clean and in excellent condition. He had already removed the heads and recommended doing a valve job only because he already had them off. It was reassembled, and has run perfectly with ZERO smoke, great gas mileage, perfect oil pressure, and better than normal oil usage. It is stone reliable. It starts easily in any weather. It has excellent batteries. As you can see, the truck is beautiful. It has great white paint with very few flaws, certainly fewer than you would expect for this year truck. It has aftermarket running boards, bedrails, chrome rear bumper, aluminum tool box, and gooseneck trailer hitch. The interior is nice, too. The carpet is not worn, but has never been shampooed and could use it. It has cloth seats and all are nice with the exception of the driver’s seat which is worn where you slide in and out. Everything works well, but the A/C system has a leak in the evaporator coil. I bought a new one and am including the new coil, but I have not installed it yet, or recharged the system. Everything mechanically is sound and it has had recent disk brake pads. The tires are useable, but will need replacing pretty soon. This truck runs, drive, and looks great. It has been well cared for and is set to go thousands and thousands more reliable miles.
