Vehicle Detail

1969 Ford Bronco Sport 302 , professionally built C4 auto built and installed by Stan Clark of So Cal a well known racer/builder in So Cal,A well known fabricator/builder/racer, former mechanic for Ford funny car pioneer Gas Ronda.'s Cammer Mustangs. This job utilized a stock component identical to what the 65-66 Mustangs used and coincidentally identical to the bronco's Transfer case shift selector. So its a clean factory appearing job fromthe controls aspect, the trans however is anything but a slushy automatic, this tranny shifts with authority, without being obnoxious or damaging, on downhill grades it holds remarkably similar to the original 3 spd column shifter. My Grandfather used it from 69-1980 in So Cal to the Mojave quite often , it being a mere 100 miles east, hence the original and very low mileage, a majority of its life has been spent in a garage and warehouse, not a bit of rust on the floors or under hood etc all the spots they will, this is a Ca car and never been in salt sans a few Pismo trips, which i must say was a blast!. This Bronco was originally a DANA 30 front end, it broke spider gears and a DANA 44 limited slip, 4;11 differential was installed, with a double shock mount, currently not used but ready to double shock it again. My Grandfather was in the Pomona valley 4 Wheelers, a group of asstd fellows around So Cal, fellows who had been traversing the mojave since the 20's with baloon tired model T's They knew many trails , many long closed by BLM, unbelivably treachorous appearing, you would imagine impossible to traverse, I myself got out a few times thinking i might walk up, No, I had a heck of a time! I recall sitting in the back ,looking behind as the bronco was flying up a huge long hill that very few machines were making ,it was like a blast off video! straight up, going down too really wild! the broncos pretty much always made it if there was a trail! Often on ridges or ttrails that were so high and steep of an area you would be fortunate if you rolled , likely to simply fee fall a 100 feet!, but this Bronco was amazing in its ability to go up , stop and proceed without digging a hole and geting stuck as 3 spds will do without clutch slipping. I used to have a 57 M38 283sbc 6" lift 33" tires ,looked mean I thought the Bronco need a 6" lift! my Grandpas scofffed said he preferref ground clearance with center of gravity, much appreciated backing down on a hill or going fast across the desert, I had my M38 flying almost flipping on some sagebrushes that were big ! etc, I was going 30-35 I guess really fast in that jeep lifted, well I see behind me a bunch of old dudes in Broncos hauling u know what ! I saw my grandpas Orange bronco go flying by me honking his air horn and siren! andhe was drinking a cup of ice coffee! Show off, lol. I remeber thinking no way could I have gone that fast, I was almost being thrown out as was! this Broncos seriously set up old school and they did stuff I would never try unless trapped by fire!! He won several potato races in a few High Deseert roundups with My grandma sticking painted potatos along the motocross track they had she hqad a stick and a nail in it and they won!lol so many fun times associated with this Bronco. These guys even backed up hills after they climbed them and many trails thaey crept along if raised I am sure would have flipped off the trail to a pretty nasty fall!, The old Bronco hasnt had the 4wd engaged in any situation that required it, i have to simply insure its working as normal off road of course Dana 44 front , new 33" BF Goodrich KO's ,All new drum brakes & hardware, master cylinder and power brake booster, 53,000 original miles, EdelbrockTorker intake, New Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, off road cam, Hedman headers, new X pipe and Flowmaster exhaust, and new header gaskets, It ran warm upon my starting it and seemed a bit bubbly in the radiator so i had a shop pull the heads and replace the gaskets and while off even though it was 53k miles i did a valve job on the heads since they were off i figured it was better than not doing soat this point, new water pump and thermostat, new gel battery, new Mr Gasket elect fuel pump, custom 4 point roll cage painted to match the Broncos interior colors.l, custom built hitch receiver, A/C unit is under dash 3 ton system as 65-66 Mustangs ,trucks used, no refrigerant in system currently, needs heater core, currently bypassed, no rust, runs strong sounds xlnt, has Fiamm air horns ,2 spot lights on windshields A pillars, just tuned for $230,has 2 tanks, onlly using rear, front tanks not installed but I have the tank, 2 trans coolers, skid plate, antennae whip, the hood flew up 1 time and not fixed but closes, extremely capable off road vehicle, very low mileage, originally a So Cal vehicle, Grandfather bought new in 1968 its a 1969 model however has a few 68 features oddly enough, vacuum wipers and fold down winshield apparently Ford used up what they had intransitioning the 68 to 69 models, its a 69 bought in 68, and read that type of rarity appeals to some. its old paint , nice deep "BIG OLY" style mags, cute, looks like a toy gets many remarks. Keith, 916-753-2758 On May-19-12 at 00:10:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I just noticed i have the picture with scotch tape on rear brakelight lens, i was working on that light and I do have the trim piece, i didnt drive it that way and paint had rubbing compound all over it when friend snapped pics without me there, its a bit cleaner now will send pics if requested of anything, anywhere on the Bronco thanks keith. On May-19-12 at 02:32:26 PDT, seller added the following information: http://i47.tinypic.com/35mdv61.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/25sak5l.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/nvqe1h.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/35lg8cz.jpg Convenience package (cigarette lighter, map light, horn ring) the fun and foldable windshield, the familiar hood loop and windshield latch were last installed in 1968. This meant the large chrome interior windshield to dash knobs went as well and were replaced with inconvenient bolts. I found this data regarding the broncos, this is definately a 69 sold in 68 and likely the only 69 with the fold down windshield and vacuum wipers! maybe not a big deal to some, but as to rarity, I read this feature in oonly 1 other Bronco and i havent found it again yet, just interesting fact i never knew about until of late, below are opyions it has i fasiled to note that the site mentioned. Its confirmed several places this 69 shouldnt have a fold down windshiled and vacuum wipers and i cant find the other one I read about now! Arguably, the 1969 model was the most changed of all Broncos through 1977, but it couldn't prevent a gradual decline in popularity for the 1969-1973 Ford Bronco. There were considerable body changes to the pickup and wagon in 1969. For example, the windshield and cowl area were improved to reduce road noise and the doors were changed. (The fold-down windshield was discontinued, but roofs remained removable.) The wagon body had a beefier look, especially the door frames, rocker panels, and roof. All of these changes were made to strengthen the vehicle. Parking light lenses, which had previously been clear, were now amber. The optional 289-cubic-inch V-8 was replaced by a 302-cubic-inch unit. Electric windshield wipers replaced vacuum-operated blades as a running change during the model year. Production was 2,317 pickups and 18,639 wagons.
