Hello! Up for auction, with No Reserve, is my 1985 VW Vanagon GL, manual 4 speed transmission, in great mechanical condition. I have replaced the following items: All new drive belts, fresh oil and filter change, and changed the transmission gear lub. New clutch and slave, new CV joints and boots, replaced the rack & pinon gear. The rear brake cylinders have been rebuilt. All radiator & heater hoses replaced, including the coolant pressure system gaskets. The two stage radiatior fan and thermostat have been checked along with a raditor flush and new coolant. A complete tune up, with all Bosch spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and air filter was completed. Checked all four fuel injectors, replaced two. The body is straight and this bus rides and handles impressively. No under carriage work is needed. Shocks are in great condition which allows the van to corner well and the van never bottoms out. AC blows air, just not real cold, may need a recharge. Tires are new, and had a complete wheel alignment. Battery is new. Captin Style seats are in great condition, no tears or rips, but need a cleaning. The engine and radiator have been pressure tested to 16 lbs. Windows are tinted, but need a touch up, all glass is clear with zero chipping. Two speed window wipers and single wiper on the rear window complete their task. The van needs the following to make it a real cruiser: A paint job, new bumpers, and carpet/door kit. New outside rear view mirrors. The bottom half of the steering column needs replacing. Rubber moldings are weathered and needs replacing. The van has various dings - see pictures, but nothing that would take an extensive amount of work. The only rust is in small scratches, otherwise it is cancer free. AM/FM/CD radio plays but needs to be rewired. There are 4 speakers, including the bass, in the rear and one in each front door. The speed odomotor works and is accurate. The odomotor stopped working during my travel from Kentucky. This van was purchased in Kentucky and driven out to La Mesa, CA with zero problems. I chose to put money into the working condition of the van. I am selling due to the lack of money to complete the job. What makes this Vanagon a great deal is the new owner has an opportunity to remake the interior as they would like. From completing a 7 passenger van, camping van, to a super beach buggy. Free and clear title on hand. Please remember that this VW is 27 years old and does have flaws, but you can have a great project that will pay you back for many years. I have found various parts on eBay, gowesty.com, vancafe.com, and local service centers that treat these vans with loving care. The wild hugcaps are included in the deal...
