Vehicle Detail

1974 SAAB Sonett III, 41,000 original miles! Barn find, (well it was in a airport hanger!) Hello, this is Tom Donney from Iowa. I found this car in Northern Minnesota and could not believe it was not all rusted out. Turns out this car spend most it's life in So. Ohio. It was taken to Minnesota by a guy who liked me loves Saabs and never winter driven. As you can see from the photos it has virutally no rust! Even the battery area is perfect. Also the low miles are rare. One look at the brake and clutch pedal covers, as well as the steering wheel and other normal wear items you can tell these are actual miles. And I should know. I own a Yellow 1974 Sonett III with only 00044 miles (Yes 44 actual miles, the lowest know in the world!) as well as another Blue 1974 with 21K and and another Blue one with 39K and a Pea Green 1971 with 44K. I bought this to get running and sell about 2 years ago. We went to tow it to the trailer and I decided to try and start it and it started right up and drove into the trailer. It has taken sometime as I stay pretty busy with all my Saabs but I think it is ready. It runs out very, very well. Good power and quiet transmission. Feels like a true low miles car. Did I say this car runs very, very well?? The interior is one of the best interiors I have seen in a 1974 Sonett. The seats are the best (other than my 44 mile car) and the rest is very very good. The clutch master has been rebuilt, the front brake hoses have been replaced and the brakes work fine. The hand brakes sticks a little and I will look at that yet. Wipers work fine. I took the top off the carb and cleaned it and put in an new accelerator pump. Now for the Bad The exhaust is pretty well shot, very loud too! The fuel tank may need to come out and be cleaned. Not sure yet, but I had to blow air back through the lines to get fuel to flow and I have replaced the fuel filter once. Tires have good thread but are shot. (weather cracked) And the paint. It may look good in all these pictures but trust me, the paint is very very BAD. It is a "10 footer". The fiberglass is all good but I think someone put plastic over the body in storage and the paint reacted. The paint has lines through it (not fiberglass cracking) that I don't think can be sanded out. I am guessing it has been repainted as some point although it is real hard to tell. (may be a paint react too) Based on the fuel tank and the tires this is NOT a car that could be driven home. Very hard to get home when you don't have enough fuel! I really havent checked out all the lights. I know the fuel guage is stuck on full and the temp gauge does work fine and the engine does not over heat. There is a water leak by the top righ side of the radiator where the hose hooks up. We tightened the hose and added BARS stop leak which seemed to stop it for now, but could need radiator repaired. This car has been fun to play with but with the addition of the former SAAB USA HERUTAGE CARS to my collection of over 60 Saabs, I just do not have the time or space anymore and I must sell this Saab as well as some of my other vintage Saabs. Watch for other Saabs on ebay for sale and at my shop Tom Donney Motors. Check out my website donneysaab . DOT . com. (only 1 dot!) Also feel free to come to my SAAB open house June 2 for a great time in Fort Dodge, Iowa! On May-19-12 at 13:42:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Couple quick questions to answer, Paypal fine for deposit and car can sit here longer than 7 days to be picked up.
