Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this 1931 Ford Model A Coupe. This is a real deal steel hot rod, built by myself with focus on creating a traditional hot rod from the mid to late sixties.I have owned this coupe for the past fourteen years and it has served as a daily driver for several of them. The car is rock solid and has one of the nicest old bodies I have seen.It is a very dependable driver that has incredible power whenever you want it,and will also cruise around town real easy. This thing is a blast on the highway with its current gear ratio, and gets pretty decent milage (12-13mpg) for a stroker big block with two fours. I feel its a good representation of an old style, bare bones, homebuilt hot rod that you can really use as is or take to the next level of finish. There were no stop signs, mailboxes or rubber rats used in the build of this car. The body has been chopped 4 inches. The weld seams have been finished off for the most part and the garnish moldings, with exception of the doors, have been cut to fit as well. There is real glass in all openings except the doors. The old black primer has real nice patina. The roof has been filled with metal and does have some surface rust on it,I have always just brushed some Extend on it as I had plans for a faux soft insert cover. There is only one small rust hole on the driver side quarter bottom behind the door.I will include the patch panels for this and for the door bottoms. The driver side rear wheel well needs finished. The door handles are there but are not functional,I reach through to open the bear claw latches.I have tried to show all areas that need finished in the pictures. The frame was built using .250 wall 2x3 rectangle tubing, stepped up 4 inches in the rear, and a Model A crossmember in the front. Theres a 5 inch dropped Magnum tube axle with forged ends hung by a Posies spring over top.A pair of 1940 Ford wishbones tie the front end to the frame sides with 3/4 inch heim ends. There is a panhard rod.A Flaming River Vega steering box with roller bearings inside connects to the Pete&Jakes dropped steering arms. The disc brakes on the front use Ford bolt pattern rotors and new GM metric calipers. The rear end is a 9 inch out of a 1957 Ford Fairlane with 11 inch drum brakes suspended by coil springs and gas shocks. A pair of homebuilt ladder bars hook it to the frame. There is a box tubing k member in the middle frame that ties into a 6 inch piece of thickwall pipe for a driveshaft safety loop. All this rolls on a pair of 15x4 inch Torque Thrusts in front with 165r15 tires, and 15x8 inch steel wheels on the back with 285/70/15's. The engine is a 489 big block Chevy stroker with 2 600 Edelbrock carbs,an Eagle rotating assembly,Lunati VooDoo cam#60203 and matching valvetrain. It was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago and has receipts for machine work and parts$$$.Its hooked to a th400 with a 2400 JW 11 inch converter that was rebuilt at the same time. I have had alot of fun with this car but my mind is in a different place now and its time for something different. You could drive this car home if you wanted to.NO TRADES.This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction early if sold. PayPal deposit of $1000.00 US within 48hr of auction close.Full payment within 7 days of auction close via cash in person or a certified bank check, funds clear my bank before car leaves my shop.Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping,I will help load.Thank you and good luck bidding!
