Vehicle Detail

For sale is this true barn find 1956 Packard Clipper Deluxe 4dr with a 352/2V V8 and an automatic trans. This has been stored in a barn & not driven since 1978. So on the road approx 20 years: stored for 30+. The paperwork I have shows the car has been in the Roanoke VA area all its life. It would make the ultimate restoration project, rat rod or get all the parts you need for your 55-56 Packard project in one place! This recently came out of an estate sale & it is barn fresh with only 32K showing on the odometer. This is an amazing 50s car with the ultimate 50s look inside & out and it is the LAST of the great Packards before they became Packard-Bakers in 57-58. Since this car is so complete, so rust free for its vintage it would be IDEAL for a restoration and/or a quick rat rod project & it already looks the part! The motor is complete but I have NOT tried to start it & expect it will need considerable work. Another thing that is cool about this car is it was ordered bare bones as there is no air, factory radio delete, no power windows or locks, no power seat, etc. Just basic transportation in a beautiful body style & once you own it can always claim you own one of the last of the real Packards. The dash board is PERFECT, the glovebox is intact, the steering wheel has only 1 crack, a beautiful horn button and ring. The floors need minimal work and the trunk pan looks like it just came out of the factory! You get a complete jack assembly! Sure there is some rust in the body & some bondo in the bodywork but its a 50+ year old car & it STILL looks this good? I have been under the car & the frame is near perfect with no rust out anywhere. There are no issues with bumper brackets, the bottoms of the doors, trunk lid AND hood are solid. The seats are old but there is more than enough there to recover. I wont say anything about the door panels, you can see as well as I can but missing trim pieces are in the trunk along with some emblems and headliner bows. The Vin plate is still attached to the car and it shows codes for the Paint: L & Trim: 11. Glass is all intact except the little vent window on the drivers side front door. The 352, 2V engine is complete and the compartment is super, super solid: even the battery tray is solid and complete with the hold down brackets. If you bid, you will be getting ALOT to work with for very little cash. Im not asking a fortune for her (I think her name is Dottie) because I love old cars and this would have went to the crusher if I had not bought it. Seriously, it was me buying her or the crusher, no ifs ands or about it, I saved this car. If somebody bids and she sells and then ebay takes their part, transportation costs, etc. I will be lucky to break even... but its not always about making money for me. I simply HAD to save this car, call me crazy. I have never owned a Packard and dont want to restore her because there are like 12 cars in front of her that need done. So please have mercy and give her a home? Im not in so deep that I HAVE to have the money and I certainly will not mind looking at the car if you dont buy it. She will sit in the garage, unloved by anyone but me, but I can guarentee I will NEVER part this car out and/or crush it. If you dont wish to bid... thats fine, she will be safe & dry here, but if you have the cash and the room please give her a spot in your garage. Just added from a kind email from a Packard collector in Canada: According to my production records for 56 Packards they made 5,715 of your model, however most had torsion level suspension systems. I don't know how many had conventional spring suspension. Not too many in 1956, that is why you have a rare car. Since this was the lowest priced Packard how many of these have survived? Hope someone restores her. From the Va Title your car is Serial # 5622-4576. So your car is the 3,576th made out of the run of 5,715 Deluxe Clippers. I have started the bidding low and there is no reserve. If you are considering the Packard please know that I will be here for you after the auction. If you win you will get my help to get the car moved: if you come and pick it up w/a trailer or if you employ a shipping service: I will do all I can to help you get it home. All I ask in return is you pay the $250 deposit as soon as you make the winning bid and make full payment available within 7 days. You will get a fine vehicle with lots of potential. In addition you will get a CLEAR VA title (signed correctly) and a bill of sale. I have done my best to describe the Packard but certainly must have missed some topic of interest, if you need additional information please feel free to ask any questions. BIDDING ENDS AT EXACTLY 9:00 PM EST SUNDAY, April the 22nd so get the bids in if you want to win! Buying a car online can be difficult when you dont know how to get it home or dont have the time to do it. I have found a reliable carrier with more than reasonable rates in Carolina Carriers of Mt Airy NC. He has personally moved cars for me and friends & at prices that make it difficult for you to move them yourself any cheaper. He doesnt care or charge more if they dont run. Here are some rates from cars he has moved from here and to there for myself and friends: SC to Salem VA: $225. Salem VA. to Florida: $400. Deep into NY state to Salem: $450. Salem VA to Louisiana: $500. It is a family owned operation and you will talk to his wife Angie when getting quotes and updates and meet Carl Widener or a related employee when the car is picked up/delivered. Here is how to get a quote: Angie: 336-926-9884 Carl: 336-926-3703 Better yet if you like email (who doesnt?) write them at: carolinacarriers@yahoo.com You can rest assured after YEARS of dealing with MANY different carriers I have never met ONE worth recomending until I met Carl & I wouldnt do so now if I didnt consider them one of the best.
