You are looking at my 1973 VW Bus - I call Her Tulula. She has a type 4 dual carb flat engine - 1700cc. Mechanically this is a very strong bus. My wife and I have taken her on multiple 1000 mile trips around Idaho. It is a manual and the transmission was totally replaced a just over a year ago. The tires are also new. The Interior is great for camping. The back seat folds into a bed and there is a table that flips up on the side. There are some tears in the vinyl and cracks in the dash ( see photos). The windows have etchings in them. All the gauges and radio work (except the oil pressure). The ignition has a battery kill switch and a toggle start (key has to be in vertical position. The sliding door requires the perfect "touch" to open and close properly. Overall interior is in ok to good shape but is not perfect. The exterior has some small surface dings and a bit of surface rust on the front. The exterior is in good shape but like the interior is not perfect. Upfront Issues - I want to be as straightforward as possible about Tulula so you the buyer have no surprises. Rust - for the most part rust is minimal - some surface rust as mentioned before. The passenger side floor pan had a small hole that has been patched/repaired. The heater is not really very functional - you need to bundle up in the winter. Driver seat is in poor shape (has cover on it that works) and passenger seat is out of an latter model bus) Interior and exterior are nice and in decent shape for being 40 years old but do not expect show quality. Overall this is a mechanically very sound bus that with some cosmetic work could be a beautiful bus. Unfortunatly , because of some previous bad experiences I feel I must add that please do not win this auction and then show up at my house and expect to barter on the price.
