1967 Type 1 Beetle - VIN 117290716 Currently registered with original black license plates, located in Oakland, California. Car runs fine, fully operational, wipers, lights, etc. all work, no obvious significant mechanical or cosmetic issues. Body is very straight, California rust-free, no obvious signs or known history of significant collision damage or major repairs; 1500 cc engine appears original. Paint is weak per photographs, original full bumpers show surface rust. Tan interior is presentable with minor trim details needing attention – note tear in passenger seat only visible when the seat is tilted forward. This is a together working daily driver or a very solid restoration candidate. Current odometer reading is approximately 33,300 miles – full historical mileage is likely 133,300 though not verified. History: I’m selling this for a neighbor who is the widow of the last owner. In 2003 he purchased this car from the 2nd owner in San Francisco – the car is originally from the Redwood City, CA area. He used this as a daily driver, had it maintained and serviced by a long established family run independent VW shop in Oakland. Aside from occasionally being started, the car has been unused since the owner’s passing in 2008. I just took the car to the same local shop that previously maintained it for a check up prior to selling. The shop replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, fan belt, changed the oil and filter, drained the old gas and put in fresh fuel. Car has four matching Remington Himax II 165R15 radial tires with good tread; spare rim and tire are in good condition. The car shows minimal modifications from stock and original – there’s an after-market radio/-cassette deck installed with speakers in the doors. Included: two very original looking ignition keys. Also included in the trunk: original jack, partial stock tool kit, fire extinguisher, spare fan belt, car cover, Clymer’s Beetle Workshop Manual. While the option is reserved to sell to a buyer outside of eBay, the VW will go to the highest bidder - there is no ‘buy it now option’. There is an unstated (meaning not divulged) minimum (reserve) price for the auction that’s at the low end of the car’s current blue book value.
