Vehicle Detail
1965 Plymouth Belvedere II Rat Rod Street Rod Pro Street Pro Stock Listed as a Road Runner because they're was no category for Belvedere, I apologize and I know that there was no 1965 Road Runner.... this could sure be one though... lol. "B" Body, Big Block Car ..... The following engines will bolt right in... 361, 383, 400, 413, 426w, 440 six pack or magnum or of course, the Famous 426 Hemi. Any of these will bolt right in on the stock motor mounts you see here. Stick shift or automatic, set up for stick. I was told that it had a supercharged Hemi sticking through that hole in it's hood long ago, you can tell by the cut out, bulge in back for bearing hump on back of blower. This car was the first to sport the "Mighty 426 Hemi" in NASCAR in 1965. Chrysler put four of these Belvedere's exactly like this one in the 1965 Nascar Daytona Race to introduce the Hemi with great success...and of course #43 Richard Petty was one of them. The four cars finished 1rst, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Nothing could compete. If you research Nascars's history, this car was a turning point in history for the Hemi and for Chrysler in general, truly almost the beginning of the big block muscle car war era carried out in Nascar. Good times, REALLY fast cars. Today they all run small blocks because the old big blocks went so fast they would make the cars take off from the track like airplanes. Exact racing history of this particular car is unknown but I'm sure it has some, when sandblasted, there was an old certification tag from a weld shop in Barstow, California on the roll cage. If you want more pictures, ask. Car was rotisserie sandblasted and acid etch primered immediately after being blasted. Car has new floors front to back with tubs, sub frame connectors and 10 point certified roll cage. Rear end springs were moved in with the sub-frame connector kit and a slightly narrowed Dana 60 was fitted with these Expensive Mickey Thompson 31 x 16.50 Sportsman tires you see, over $300 each. Front tires are junk just to roll project on. Missing rear window regulators and winshield rubber, has good glass all around and great trims and letters, no wipers. Windshield rubber available from Jim's auto parts.com. I have the wiring harness, the headlight buckets, the dash and all the 47 year old interior parts, door panels, except seats. Doors are excellent and jamms. Rear fenders are all patched up ...front too. Show car? ...NO, cool race car or great cruise night conversation piece?... you bet. Car is very solid now and would make a great race car. The grill is nearly perfect and I have a good used radiator with no leaks for it too. Bolted in on it's motor mounts I have a '71 440 core block with main caps and 906 heads, no internals. Also a NEW set of 440 headers with full set 3 inch exhaust to the back bumper, has welded 3 inch mufflers, all goes with it. See Pictures! No trans. No shifter. Front brake spindles already converted to disc brakes, ready for 4 wheel disc. All clutch linkage, Z-bar, adjustable push finger are here. I have VIN plate and Title...if you want to go pro street with it. Needs engine, trans, driveshaft, axles, brakes and finished. Set of like new 5.13 Dana 60 gears (ring & pinion) in box also included. I'm sorry to the bidders for ebay's stupid regulations that removed my previous auction listing for the link to youtube that I only mentioned in the listing, ebay removed the listing for that and I apologize. ( REDICULOUS... I'm Sorry ) I'll try it again. Good Luck Bidding...... DON"T MISS IT!
