This car was delivered brand new to Mercedes of San Diego on August, 18th 1976 to its first owner Dr. Miriam Roache. She owned the car into the early 1990s when the car showed only 83,000 miles. At that point the car went into storage where the second owner picked it up and drove it occasionally for the next 20 years putting only about 20,000 miles on the car. The car just came out of storage and was gone through including an all new brake system, new carbs, new tires, new interior, and the A/C system gone through. The paint on the car is in awesome condition. The paint appears to be original but almost looks to good so it may have had one repaint in its original color. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as any well cared for garaged California car should be, and has never been in any accidents. The car is riding on original steel Mercedes wheels and hubcaps with like brand new tires. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The car looks absolutely as nice as the day it rolled off the Mercedes lot. The interior is in like new condition all around. The supple blue seats are all brand new with new foam as well. All wood grain is in excellent condition with almost no cracking cracking. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the Original Becker sound system. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The trunk compartment is very clean and does have the original jack, the original spare tire dated 1976 and wheel. Also included is a full tool kit, all owners manuals, and two expensive MB service books. Mechanically, this 280C runs GREAT! I have owned nearly 20 70's era Mercedes vehicles, and this car blows the doors off all of them! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The 2.8L engine is very quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90mph. The car was always regularly serviced as indicated by the fully stamped service book. The car just received a service at a cost of over $1800! All in all, this is one of the cleanest and nicest Mercedes that I have had the privilege of being associated with.
