Vehicle Detail

You're thinking about buying a 1946 GMC 1/2 ton pickup truck. This truck is more rare than its counter-part, the 1946 Chevrolet, which had 10-times the production of the GMC. You see rally wheels on the old girl, but I'd rather sell it with 4 good artillery wheels, as I have another use for these 15" wheels and tires. Bring some 16" tires you can mount up if you want the artillery wheels. (No hubcaps)I will sell her with the rally wheels and rings, though. The flatbed is factory built, originally by Ford. Wood is better than fair, metal is good. The original box is included, but it needs fenders and a tail gate. The floor is metal, NOT wood, and is in good condition. This is the GMC engine that is pressure oiled, unlike the babbitt-pounders in the Chevrolets. The engine is the 228 cid, and needs tuned, (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points & condenser) but with a little coaxing, it'd fire right up; it hasn't ran in a couple of years. Its coupled to the spur-gear 4-speed tranny, an available option that year, rather than the stock 3-speed synchromesh.I bought this truck from the original owner in 1968, (A little old lady...really) so I'm the second owner. It's had an amateur resto about 15 years ago. The old gal needs smoothed and repainted, to be perfect; there's no rust in the cab. I'm selling due to my poor health, I can't drive or enjoy it anymore. My brother is listing this for me, as I have no computer or email; he's aware of all the details, so don't hesitate to ask questions. BTW, he'd be open to delivery @ $1.50 per loaded mile up to 500 miles. You'd have to trailer this girl, she needs a master cylinder and clutch release bearing. The price and reserve is fair; in another auction there was a couple of NOS front fenders, not much better than these, that went for over $2000 ! Thanks for looking, and happy bidding. I'm gonna miss her, sniff...
