Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a seller will post all but the most flattering of photographs. We prefer to expose the complete roll of film taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free (apart from some obvious incidental surface discoloration under the hood etc) genuine 'barn find' example of this coveted original southern California 1968 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1.5 4 speed manual transmission coupe with it's original 6 cylinder 4.2L/246HP engine with twin cooling fans and with a matching green interior and four original Jaguar wire wheels! The car is reported to have only some 46K original miles by its previous long time owner's widow who's husband had purchased the car in 1976 from its original southern California owner and who had stored it in his dry southern California enclosed garage since 1978 when it was last driven. We purchased the car from this second southern California owner's widow and have only cleaned it and put a new set of tires on it in order to move it into our storage facility until sold. As previously stated, the car has not been running since 1978 and will be sold 'as is' requiring TLC and unknown mechanical work. Please note that the engine does turn over although it is not running. The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents of any kind and has a razor straight body. It's 'British Racing Green' color paint has some light scratches and imperfections from its years spent 'unattended' in the garage and the car's interior is quite impressive and seemingly very original with lovely green vinyl seats, door panels, headliner, dashboard and carpets all in very fine condition throughout. Please note the car does not have it's original spare wheel or tools located in the trunk. FOLLOWING THE 'SERIES 1' (1961-68) THERE WAS A TRANSITIONAL SERIES OF CARS BUILT BETWEEN 1967-68 UNOFFICIALLY CALLED THE 'SERIES 1.5' AND THEY ARE EXTERNALLY SIMILAR TO THE 'SERIES 1' CARS BUT WITH NEW AMERICAN INFLUENCED FEATURES OF OPEN HEADLIGHTS, DIFFERENT SWITCHES & SOME SLIGHT DETUNING WITH THE NOTICEABLE DOWNGRADE FROM THE ORIGINAL TRIPLE CARBS TO THE TWIN ZENITH-STROMBERG CARBS FOR THE US MODELS THERE WERE ONLY 1,942 SERIES 1.5 FHC BUILT & THE LOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS ON THESE CARS MEAN THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY QUITE SIMPLY AMONGST THE RAREST OF ALL PRODUCTION E -TYPES! SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE KNOWING THAT THIS IS THE LOWEST PRODUCTION SERIES OF FHC BUILT BY JAGUAR & THAT VERY FEW REMAIN ANYWHERE! THE TOTAL PRODUCTION NUMBERS FOR THE FHC ARE AS FOLLOWS: SERIES 1 (3.8): 7,670; SERIES 1 (4.2): 5,830; SERIES 1.5: 1,942; SERIES 11: 4,855 & SERIES 111: 0! Please note that the FHC's (Fixed Head Coupe) are rarer than the 33,996 OTS (Open Two Seaters) built and way more desirable than the 18,222 Longer Wheel Base (9") and far less desirable 2+2 coupes. It is noteworthy that in the final Series III incarnation of the model there were no FHC built at all but some 7,990 OTS and 7,297 2+2's. Therefore the Series 1.5 FHC Coupes are obviously some of the rarest and most collectible E-Type Jaguars available of this legendary marque. This is therefore an extremely rare opportunity for the Jaguar or British classic sports car enthusiast who is looking to buy a great all original and unrestored and rust free example of an original southern California 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 4.2L 2 seater coupe with the highly desirable 4 speed manual transmission and wire wheels project to restore for daily driving or to go all the way to its former glory! Please have all funds available before bidding as a $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required from the winning bidder within 48 hours (2 business days) of auction end; an immediate $500 non-refundable deposit is required through Ebay’s Paypal service to end the auction early if the "Buy it now" option is exercised and the balance in full is due within ten days of auction end in any case. In the case these terms of sale are not met seller reserves the right to either re-list the vehicle or offer the vehicle to the next highest bidder. The non-refundable deposit in the amount of $1,000 is due within 48 hours of the auction end via bank wire transfer or cashier's check via overnight mail.
