Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a rust free California built 1955 Bel Air four door sedan that has spent its life in sunny California. I am selling the car on behalf of the owner. This Bel Air was her husbands car. He was sheriffs deputy Dennis Phelps who was slain in the line of duty in 2002. Since that time the car has sat in her garage until recently when she contacted me to get it back on the road. If you look at the photos you will see a picture I recently took of the Bel Air by a sign on the freeway that was named after him. The car is now in good running condition and ready to be enjoyed by a new owner. Description Body. The car was painted in 2001 with PPG base/clearcoat indigo blue and white (comes with touchup paint) The paint is still glossy but does have a few light scratches and small door dings that can be seen on close inspection. All the sheetmetal fits well and the doors shut precisely. There is no rust that I can find but there is a patch panel on the passenger floor that looks like it was done a long time ago. Exterior trim. The trim ranges from new looking to average, the worst being the rear bumper that has some scratches and two rust spots. The door seals are like new as are the front and rear window seals. The glass is in very good condition except for the passenger vent window that is cracked. The windows operate smoothly Wheels and tires The wheels are 15 inch chrome steel rally style and are in excellent condition. The tires are a matched set of barely used 215/75R 15 and the spare is a vintage cross ply. Drivetrain. The engine is a 265 cubic inch v8 (id# 0308223f55f) with the original 2 barrel carb and intake. It runs strong, does not smoke and has 50 psi of pressure cold and 35psi hot. It has a remote oil filter with a modern spin on filter.. The transmission is a 3speed manual with a Hurst floor shift. The brakes just been have been upgraded to a power dual line system and new brake shoes. The original brake master cylinder is included. Electrical. The lights all work except for the interior dome light. The turn signals and brake lights work as do the wipers ( I have the wiper blades removed as they are old and I did not want to scratch the windshield.) The car still has the original generator and it works well. Interior The seats and door panels are older but are not torn and the seats do not sag. The headliner has a few very small tears but is in overall good condition. the carpet is as new. The dashboard is very nice with a modern stereo with aux input.(made by custom autosound) The gauges under the dash work and so does the fuel gauge and speedo. The heater fan does not work and the heater knob is missing. Overall the car is in good condition and runs down the road well, it is not a show car but would make a great cruise and local show car and can be enjoyed immediately . All the fluids have been recently changed and is ready for some summer fun. Please e-mail or call(Simon@ 559 349 3109) with any questions before bidding. Bidders with less than 2 positive feedbacks please contact me before bidding. Winning bidder to pay for item within 7 days of end of auction or item will be relisted. Good luck bidding! The car comes with a factory repair manual, assembly manual, owners manual and vehicle registrations dating back to the 1990's. There is also a box of original parts that were on the car.
