Vehicle Detail
This is a US version 1988 Ferrari Testarossa (VIN: ZFFSG17A4J0075232). It is in very good condition however, it needs the next scheduled service. I bought the car in 2002 and have used it very sparingly (as I have many other cars), however have used it almost every month to keep all the mechanicals in good condition etc. This car had it’s last full belt service at 38K miles, and while it has had only 4K miles after that, it has been a while, so I am listing the car as needing the 45K mile service (though the car has only 43K miles). I am selling this car as I am trying to buy a 430 and is needing to raise the funds for it. Let me describe the car a bit. I bought the car from Florida (and I live in Austin, Texas). I believe I am the 6th owner. The body is in very good condition. The second owner of the car had the color of the car changed (back in 1994 timeframe) from the original black to its present yellow. The paint work is absolutely wonderful and is in superb condition (I was told that it cost a lot at the time). I have owned several Ferrari’s and can say that this paint work is better than what Ferrari does. The shine is superb and it is very difficult to say that there has been a color change. The interior is in very good condition with original black leather. No rips, no stains, not really much wear on the driver seat and the driver side carpet. The dash and gauges are clean and there are no flaws as such. There is a small shrinkage of leather on the top edge of the dash (where it meets the glove box area). Outside of that, everything is in good condition. The AC works, however, is weak (like other Ferrari AC’s I have owned). The body is very solid and straight and clean. The CarFax shows that it had been involved in an accident in Feb 2002 and states that it was recorded in Jul2009. The previous owner was involved in a small accident and had replaced the front lower bumper cover and the front lower left fog light. So while the Carfax report indicates it as a ‘moderate’ it must have been minor as I can’t see any other work and everything looks original on the car. The car is clean and rust free, the only bit of rust I see is on the exhaust system (surface oxidizing) and the rear muffler heat shield. The heat shield, which is made of a thin piece of anodized metal, has rusted at the seam and I will include an image of that in this listing. The engine runs fine and I have all service records for the car since new, which I will attempt to scan and place as an image. The car has had all of the mileage timed services and I have almost all of the service receipts for the car since new. As stated earlier, the last major service with belts and all were done at 38K miles. It would need the next service and I am selling the car ‘as-is’ and ‘needing a service’. I compiled all of the major receipts and put them on a spreadsheet and will include an image of that on this listing. The clutch is strong and tight. The wheel rims are of the knock-off type (which the Testarossa’s changed to the 5 bolt pattern starting in late 1988 I think). The tires are in good condition and has good tread depth and I will include an image. As far as pointing out items that could use attention on the car it is as follows; the full service as stated earlier, starting about 3 months back the alternator light stays dimly illuminated while idling. I had the voltage checked and the alternator is providing the voltage, so not sure what it is, possibly could use a new alternator. There is a tiny chip (about 3 x 1 milimeter size) chip on the left front fender lip. There is a tiny chip (about 1mm square) on the rear left fender. The dash leather shrinkage I have mentioned above, the heat shield corrosion I have mentioned above. The Gas struts for both the trunk and engine cover are weak. This is about all I can think of and I have described the car as best as I can. The Ferrari Testarossa was the one of the top models for Ferrari back in the 1980’s and is a really nice looking low profile and very wide car. It was the car used on the TV series Miami Vice. I am sad to part with this car, however, do need to sell if I am to get a 430 or something similar. The car has a clear title and comes with all of the owner’s manuals, tool kit, jack kit, extended workshop manual, a car cover and a parts catalog. Feel free to ask as many questions as you have. Buyer will have to pay for the transport. I can help arrange reasonable shipping about anywhere. I am not familiar with overseas shipping, so please enquire first. Full payment or a significant down payment must be received within 7 days of auction end. I am a long time ebayer and have a very good score. I am setting a very reasonable reserve on the car. I am also pursuing trading this car and reserve the right to end the auction sooner if I get a very good offer. Please bid only if you are truly interested and ask as many questions as you have before bidding. If you would like to see more images, please send me your email and I will take the photos and send them. Thanks for looking (and reading), let me know if you have any questions at all.
