Some subtle and understated, others outrageous, but almost always are they vintage. The car on offer here is an exception in terms of age but fulfills all of our usual criteria. The Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG is an evolution that has been in the works of the Affalterbach, Germany factory for a little over 10 years. The model represented here is of the 2nd generation. Offering exceptional value for money in terms of HP per dollar, overall rarity and the appeal of a daily driver that can do almost anything a new supercar can, but with 4 doors. This 2005 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG had a special opportunity upon completion and when imported to the ordering customer was immediately sent to Auto Addictions in Allentown, PA. As an authorized Carlsson Distributer and installation facility, Auto Addictions completed the Carlsson upgrades with one thing in mind, subtle performance. Upgrades include: Carlsson 3 inch cat back exhaust and chrome tips, Carlsson ECU (sent back to Germany for re-programming), Carlsson under drive and supercharger pulleys. Carlsson high flow air filters and air box covers. Visually the car received a set of polished 19” Forged Carlsson 116UL Wheels, and two small Carlsson badges replacing the Mercedes-Benz badges. Handling was upgraded with Carlsson’s C-tronic electronic lower kit, which allows for slightly lower ride height and better handling. Last but not least, stopping comes in the way of the factory AMG calibers and rotors, which are still more than enough to keep the new 560WHP and 580LB-ft of torque at bay when needed. The interior shows as a brand new Mercedes-Benz, with many factory options and absolutely flawless throughout. Options such as navigation, heated and air conditioned seats, various trim packages etc… all make for a great combination of sporty comfort and refinement when needed. Since completion the car has been shown at many events including features at DUB, and the Philadelphia Auto Show. In March of 2005 it was also featured European Car Magazine (PDF copy available). With over $33,000 in upgrades and a sticker price at $88K+ this E55 had all of these modifications completed when new, and at that time all still covered under the Mercedes-Benz Factory warranty. To date the car shows just over 15,000 overall miles with no issues of any sort to be disclosed. It has been well cared for with all serviced up to date and always stored in a heated garage. It reflects a nearly new car with the upgrades well integrated and engineered as to not affecting the overall quality or reliability of the car. This is one exceptional modern sedan, with a lot of HP for not a lot of money that can easily be justified as a “grocery getter”. Included in the sale is a two owner carfax, all of the factory books, first aid kit, tools, spare, invoices for all service and work completed as well as original window Sticker. After further inquiry with the current owner, we have a complete photo set and receipts for repair. The issue was a minor front impact with a deer on the way home from work.
