Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a very rare Mopar. A 1973 Charger Rallye Edition. Factory equipped with a 340 Magnum, Pistol Grip shifted four speed and sure grip limited slip rear end, this Charger is one of only 394 produced in 73. Considering that this Charger is a coupe and does not(nor ever had) a vinyl top or opera windows, the rarity increases even more. This Rallye pac equipped Mopar is a factory painted, Gunmetal Grey Metallic with black bucket seat interior. Rallye dash, the legendary Pistol Grip and hood pins, ensure that this Charger has street presence in spades. The NASCAR shaped body is especially ominous without a vinyl roof to detract from its wind-shaped design. This Charger has a full set of Rally wheels and Goodyear tires. This Mopar was obviously built for speed as it doesn't have any power robbing accessories and its options are mainly focused on performance. I would guess that optioned the way this car is, there couldn't be more than a dozen or so produced like this car-very rare indeed! This car represents an excellent opportunity for a Mopar fan to obtain a very rare B-Body at a reasonable price point. The original 340 is long gone and the car needs to be restored. The car does come with the 4 speed trans and many of the parts needed to reassemble it. As you can see, the trunk and floor plans are spectacular-no rust and factory finish evident and in great shape. The usual areas that badly rust on these cars, are in great condition on this Charger. The areas around the windows and firewall are rust-free and really nice. All the Mopar glass is intact and nice(except for a small, BB type mark on the lower windshield(repairable). The bumpers are in nice shape, all the body shut lines and gaps are very good and the Charger is equipped with the factory Power Bulge hood with 340 Magnum call outs. The car looks to have been repainted once in a grey color. Fortunately, the jambs, trunk, engine bay, floors, etc are still finished in the factory apllied Grey Metallic finish. The interior is nice with the factory radio, rally dash, seats, etc. The rear seats are original, the fronts are recovered and will need to be redone. This Charger still retains its original keys and doesn't ever appear to have been damaged by collision. It seems that a prior owner began to disassemble some areas of the car-perhaps to begin a restoration. So, a few items are removed like the brake lines and junction blocks, heater hoses, seat belts, etc. Everything pictured is included in the sale. The trunk pics show most of the removed parts, incuding extra trans pieces and linkages-the trans/shifter are assembled, although in a few of the pics, the shifter is just palced in the car. If you don't see it, its not with the car. Ask, if you have questions. This car is worthy of a full restoration, as its rarer than many 440,383 big block cars and is probably as rare as many Hemi equipped cars. Or, you could just install either a big or small block, complete some minor assembly, and have this rare Mopar survivor back on the road in no time. You know how tough it is to find a vintage Mopar that doesn't require major body/rust repair, or is simply a low power, non-high performance version that needs to be converted to something it wasn't. This car is the real deal. Don't miss this one, offered at no reserve. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
