Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1979 CJ5. I purchased this from a guy who inherited it, and did not know much about jeeps. I bought it because of it's outstanding condition. I love CJ's and currently have four, but I can’t keep them all so I need to find this one a good home. It runs and drives great. It has no rattles or vibrations going down the road. The engine power is unbelievable! It has a 360 ci engine and has no hesitation. It's a lot of fun to drive. I will describe this jeep as accurately as possible. Engine: It has a 360 ci engine with a 2bbl carb (electric choke). It has good oil pressure, 25 lbs at idle, 40 at 1600rpm. I performed a compression test, #1- 150, #2 140, #3 145, #4 145, #5 140, #6 140, #7 135, #8 145. It does not smoke. It has a slight oil leak from the bottom of the engine. The battery is good. The jeep always starts very quickly on the first turn. The alternator charges good, the volt meter is at 14. It has a new radiator. I recently changed the oil and filter. The picture of the volt meter gauge and oil pressure gauge was taken with the jeep running at idle. Transmission: The transmission works excellent. It shifts really easy. It has a T15 3 speed. No leaks. Not sure what kind of transfer, 4 wheel drive works good. Differential: It has rebuilt 1 piece axles. I am not sure what ratio the differential has. No leaks. Body/Frame: No rust, this is the most solid jeep I have ever owned, and I have had some nice ones. I have listed several pictures of the frame so hopefully you can tell how solid it is. There are no dents, the paint is excellent and has a wonderful shine. It has new fender flares. The exhaust is also fairly new and had chrome tips. It has new donut gaskets in the manifold. Top: As you can see the top is probably the worst part of the jeep. It is in good shape, but the windows have scratches. One zipper on the back window is messed up. There are no holes or tears in the top. The doors are the same, but the drivers window plastic is broken. I have priced a new top with doors for $500. I have considered this in the price of the jeep. Interior: The front seats are in excellent shape. The rear seat appears to be original and could use upholstery work. The seams on the bottom cushion are torn. The windshield has a small scratch from the wipers. Dash: The lights, blinkers, and horn all work. The heater and windshield wipers work. The volt meter and oil pressure gauge work. The temperature and fuel gauge on the speedometer cluster do not work. The dash has the original hole for the radio. I did not have an original radio to put in it and I did not want to cut the hole for an aftermarket radio so I will leave that up to the buyer. Power Steering: The power steering works very well, a little sensitive for some reason, but works good. The pump has a small leak. The jeep steers straight down the road. Brakes/Tires: The brakes are in excellent working order. The front brakes are disc and the rear are drum. The pedal is strong and there are no leaks. The tires are like new. I would guess they had less than 1000 miles, there is absolutely no dry rot on them. The wheels appear to be original and the chrome has lost some of its luster. But they look pretty good. I have tried to be as accurate as possible with my listing. You can read my previous listings and see that I have excellent feedback. Last November I sold a restored antique Mustang and the buyer was very pleased with my description. I want to maintain my 100% positive feedback rating. This is an excellent jeep and I am sure whoever wins the auction will be satisfied. There are not many CJ’s left out there that are this solid. I have priced this jeep to sell and if it sells at the reserve, in my opinion, this would be an excellent deal for a jeep of this caliber. The title is clear and open. It is still in the previous owners name and the buyers place to sign is still open. If you have any questions please call me at 501-868-6265, cell 501-804-5654.
