Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over fifty large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a seller will post all but the most flattering of photographs. We prefer to expose the complete roll of film taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree. West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this original southern California owner 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo Coupe! Finished in the beautiful and and rare special Porsche factory ordered, at an additional cost of $1,875 and one of only approximately twenty such cars imported to the United States in 1986, color combination of 'Pearl White' paint with 'Burgundy' leather seats interior and purchased with rare factory options including the 'Touring Package', 5 speed manual transmission, Power and removable large moonroof, optional and very desirable factory Porsche 'Fuchs 'chrome wheels and with only 74K original miles! The 944 was built by Porsche from 1982-91 and was a very successful model for the German automaker. The car was one of the prestigious 'Car & Driver's' 'Ten Best List' cars from 1983-1985 as was the Turbo when introduced in 1986 and in 1984 'Car & Driver' named the car the 'Best Handling Production Car In America'. In 1986 Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, known internally as the 951 (952 for right-hand drive models). This had a turbocharged and intercooled version of the standard car's engine that produced 220 hp at 6000 rpm and accelerated from 0-60 mph in 6 seconds and had a top speed of 152 mph. The turbo was the world's first car using a ceramic portliner to retain exhaust gas temperature. The Turbo also featured several other changes such as improved aerodynamics and a strengthened transmission with a different final drive ratio, optional forged Fuchs wheels and a stiffer suspension to handle the extra weight. Please note that the 944 Turbo does not resemble the regular 944 in any way. It took more than just a turbocharger and a boost gauge to make a 944 into a 944 Turbo. Major engine component revisions, more than thirty in all, were made to the 951 to compensate for increased internal loads and heat, including upgraded shock and roll bars, a beefier transmission and suspension, a freer flowing exhaust, stronger brakes and significant differences in body panels and facias. This particular example was purchased on 9/10/1986 for over $38K (approximately $66K in today's money and a very, very expensive car in its day and more than the 1986 911 Carrera Coupe, Targa or Cabriolet!) and always primarily serviced by its original and only southern California non-smoking owner (who was 55 years of age at the time of purchase and now in his eighties and would not have been interested in selling his pride and joy if it wasn't for his advanced age) at 'Sterling Motors West' of Newport Beach, California and still boasts its original owners letter of authenticity from the dealership to document the cars special factory ordered color of 'Pearl White' which was not a Porsche production color and carried an additional cost of $1,875 and was one of only twenty 944 Turbos built in this color. The car has its original thick file of service records which also includes its original window sticker, owners manuals and original purchase order and a copy of 'Car & Driver' magazine's 944 Turbo article dated April 1985! The car was purchased with the 'Touring Package' which cost an extra $1,801, chrome Fuchs wheels with Porsche crest hubs (Cost $1,488), the 'Blaupunkt Monterey Digital Cassette Radio' (Cost $657) and the rear deflector (Cost $295). The car was always garaged and has no history of any accidents or damage. The original factory 'Pearl White' paint is in exceptional and virtually flawless condition as is the original 'Burgundy' leather interior and all the options are working as they should including the ice-cold A/C which has been converted to R-134. The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Porsche Turbo should and must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed! The engine is extremely strong with no oil leaks, the 5 speed transmission is very smooth shifting and the temperature always remains cool. The car has four virtually new tires. You will surely look long and hard to find a finer and extremely rare factory loaded and unique example of this exceptionally clean and increasingly collectible and desirable Porsche 944 Turbo available anywhere else!
