Vehicle Detail
For sale is this garage kept 1972 Dodge Polara 4 door Sedan Custom with the factory paint & only 20K original miles. It has the huge 360 CI V8, auto trans, factory air and cruise control. This car rides like a Cadillac and has a cushy bounce, but surprisingly agile handleing in curves & plenty of heart thumping power. If you like your cars with lots of rust stop reading now! This has always been in a garage or under a carport and has not even a SPECK of rust! No rust in the body, frame, floors or even the trunk pan! I personally bough this ride in 2009. It came out of an estate sale and had been sitting garaged since 1996. I loved the car from the start and began getting her up to speed so I could drive and enjoy her. Trust me, cars that sit, unused, for over 12 years need some love and I had to replace the gas tank because of rotten gas, rebuild the carb and give everything the once over. It didnt happen overnight, bugs had to be worked out, etc. but the hard work is over, she is 100% again and I have been driving the car regularly since 2010. I have only put 3000 miles on the odometer since I bought her but its been plenty of time to do ALL the hard work, she is as right as rain now and can be driven anywhere in the USA on her own power & you will look good doing it. You cant imagine how cool it was the first time I was cruising on the highway and tried the cruise control and it worked! The air, of course, doesnt work but 40 year old systems never do: its all there and untouched, get it charged if you like. The motor is rock solid and starts up quickly even after cold starts: just hit the gas once and turn the key. The trans is flawless and has always been so: I didnt need to do anything but keep it full. The power disc brakes stop the 4000lb behemoth with ease and the 8 3/4 open rear end will take all the pedal you can give & propel the car with gut wrenching acceleration. Tires are in average condition, plenty of life left but not new either. There are 5 straight, factory 15X5.5 steel wheels including the spare. The charging system is great with a titanium battery purchased in 2009, new alternator, all lights, horn and gauges work: even the gas gauge. The cooling system is flawless and never needs topped up. The heater works great with no leaks. The original single pipe exaust is clean and complete. When you take a look at the photos of the interior I have provided you can bet your life this car has seen very little use and was always properly cared for. That is the original carpet: it is not ripped, stained or faded in any way. The seats are perfect with no rips, discoloration or thread issues. The dashboard has no cracks, the headliner has NO rips or other issues (if you can believe it!) This car has a WORKING AM/FM stereo radio and it picks up stations newer radios wont and it sounds great with the factory speakers. The package tray has no warps, rips, discoloration or damage whatsoever! The original weather stripping is like new. There is NO surface rust on the inside metal of the doors, hinges, hood or trunk lid. The door panels are flawless with ALL the chrome accents complete and unripped arm rests. The windshield has no fog, chips or scratches and doesnt leak a drop when it rains. Rear glass is also perfect and doesnt leak as the perfect condition of the package tray can attest. The door glass all looks great and rolls up and down tightly. The vinyl top is original, near flawless with no rust bubbles underneath. It has a working rear window defogger. The wipers work and even have the factory steel blades. Seat belts are all clean and in working order, I even left the damn buzzer attached to remind you to put your seat belt on. You get a clean spare tire and complete unused jack assembly, two extra hubcaps and the factory spare tire cover. The body of the car is rust free and heavy accident free as the original paint on the car can attest but there are a few parking lot dings and paint faded areas that are typical for its age. The worst of the "damage" to the body is on the drivers side rear wheel well moulding which looks like it was bumped on a garage door. Replacing the moulding will hide most of it and its not really dented there, just scratched. The rear bumper has a dent on the drivers side edge. Bumper chrome front and back is bright and rust free, rubber guards are complete and untouched. Body dings can be attributed to shopping carts. Paint fade in spots is typical of thinly applied factory color, wash and wax and general age but it is mostly bright and glossy with no large areas of wear as the photos can attest. I purchased a spray can of factory mixed paint color that I will include if you wish to touch up some spots: I never felt it was really neccessary. The hood, trunk lid and all doors match up with good gaps, close clean and with the right sounding and ever so gratifing thump! What else can I tell you? Im impressed by this ride. I have done my best to describe it in detail because I believe in the car, felt I have saved the car and want her to have a home where she will be appreciated. I dont need to get rich selling her... I would like to get my investment back and when she sells I will get my payment from saying I was able to drive and appreciate her for a few years. Its just time for her to have a new caretaker. Because, you gotta know classic cars need loved and they need constant care. If you dont have the time for my classic car dont bid here... but if you do bid, and win, be prepared to own a driveable time capsule. I have started the bidding low and attached a very reasonable reserve, much lower than you would expect, but just enough to protect my investment. I dont like to use reserve auctions so please forgive me and trust that by making some reasonable bids you will quickly be pleased by my pricing. If you need to put it in perspective look up 72 Dodge Polaras on ebay. One guy has a car with, get this: 54 miles! (one born every minute), the front end hasnt been off my car and it has options. Using that car as a template: given a few reasonable bids by reasonable truely interested parties, my car WILL meet reserve and go to a deserving home. I dont want to list her more than once and unlike that seller I have NO delusions about some inflated out of this world price. If you are considering my car please know that I will be here for you after the auction. If you win you will get my help to get the car moved if you come and pick it up w/a trailer, want to drive it home and need a ride from the airport or if you employ a shipping service: I will do all I can to help you get your car home. All I ask in return is you pay the $250 deposit as soon as you make the winning bid and make full payment available within 7 days. You will get a fine vehicle that is roadworthy NOW and has a current inspection. In addition you get a signed title in MY name and a bill of sale. I have done my best to describe the car but certainly must have missed some topic of interest, if you need additional information please feel free to ask any questions you may have, I know the car inside and out. BIDDING ENDS AT EXACTLY 9:00 PM EST FRIDAY FEBUARY the 17th so get the bids in if you want to win!
