Vehicle Detail

1965 Plymouth Valiant 200 2 door. This listing has had the “Buy it Now” price as well as the “Reserve” price reduced from the previous auction listing. Original paint, no body work has been done to this vehicle. It is an honest little car, no surprises hiding under slick new paint or Bondo. This is a clean slate for whatever project you have in mind. There are a few minor dents & dings but they can be corrected without a lot of time or effort. The body is straight & solid. The doors are tight. This car was bought & shipped from Burbank, California to Houston, Texas by the previous owner. It was then driven from Houston to Northern NY when he relocated. It was then stored until I bought it in the spring of 2007. The car has never been driven in snow & the condition of the body reflects that. Although the paint is flaking off in some interior corners under the hood & in the trunk there is no rust penetration in those areas. The only rust damage I can find is a very small hole in the spare tire well over top of a cross member. It is about 2” X 3/4” across. The floor pan is in great shape & there is no rust damage in the undercarriage. After I purchased it for my son we spent several weeks going over the car. All belts & hoses were replaced as was the starter. The valves were adjusted & the Carter BBS carburetor was rebuilt. The heat riser valve in the exhaust manifold was replaced with a used unit that was in good condition. New brake linings & spring kits were installed & several wheel cylinders were replaced. The gas tank was removed, cleaned & a new gas gage sender was installed. A new exhaust was installed by a local muffler shop. My son only drove this for a few months before he decided he wanted a pick up. I took possession of the car in the fall of 2007 as collateral for his truck loan & the car has been stored indoors since then. It has been started periodically & driven around the farm to keep thing loosened up. The interior is fair. The seats are good, the headliner is OK as is the carpeting. The carpeting needs a thorough cleaning. The windlace around the door openings was replaced W/ne old stock. The radio opening has been enlarged slightly but other than that, the dash is not altered. All of the gages work as does the heater controls, wipers & light. All the windows roll up & down. All the door handles & window cranks are in good condition. The windshield was replaced W/a brand new one. The gaskets are all in great condition & there is no rust in the pinch welds. The grille has some slight, easily repaired damage & the chrome on the bumpers is starting to show some age but the bumpers are straight & solid W/O any significant damage. All of the trim, badges & bright work is in great condition. It does need door panels & kick panels under the dash. The brake master cylinder should be replaced as it leaks down slowly. It functions well as long as the fluid level is maintained. The battery needs to be replaced. With these few minor repairs, it could be driven home. This car has the 225 Slant Six and it runs great. The transmission shifts & functions well. The steering/suspension is nice & tight. There are no fluid leaks other than the master cylinder mentioned previously. It could be made into a daily driver with a minimum amount of minor repairs. Since this car is 99% original it would be a great, limited expense restoration project. Some new interior door trim panels, an OEM radio & a good paint job along W/some elbow grease would bring this car back to like new condition.
