Vehicle Detail
This is a NO RESERVE auction of a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria which runs on compressed natural gas only (dedicated)! About this Crown Vic P71: this two-owner, LOW MILEAGE Police Interceptor is in fair condition even though actual mileage is ONLY 36,500 and the Auto Check rating score is 62 - above range. Summary The Good: CHEAP! Only $3500 start price NO RESERVE. Check out this other Crown Vic in Pensacola, FL ($17,500!) For CA bidders, this is a Clean Air Access vehicle, i.e. single driver carpool lane access! For Utah bidders, this NGV still qualifies for the state's $2500 incentive, i.e. $3500 start price with no reserve minus $2500 state incentive = $1,000.00 for this NGV!! Tanks are good till 7/2015, i.e. 3.5 service years remaining. Extended range (extra 100 miles) tanks are available but NOT included in the auction. The Bad: This is a used car, it has dings and other minor cosmetic imperfections. Engine needs work, idles roughly but acceleration is still adequate for daily driving. Transmission may or may not need work. A/C needs freon. Brakes needs servicing. Battery needs to be replaced, it still holds a charge but car needs a jump to start Set of 3 Goodyear Eagle RSA tires are serviceable condition but best to replace. Mismatched 4th wheel with Firestone tire is also serviceable condition. The Ugly: CA registration is expired, DMV penalties and fees are due. $294 will be added to the final price. An inspection and a test drive before bidding is STRONGLY encouraged! Please READ everything listed above and bid accordingly. An inspection and a test drive before bidding is STRONGLY encouraged! NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $500 is DUE UPON AUCTION CLOSE. Winning bidder MUST communicate (eBay messaging, eMail or phone) method of payment and coordinate remittance of the deposit as soon as the auction ends. Full payment is DUE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE. Otherwise, item will be offered to the next highest bidders. The 4.6L engine runs on CHEAP fuel - compressed natural gas (CNG) with tanks which are good till 7/2015. The 4.6L engine starts right up but idles rather roughly. On the road, acceleration & performance is adequate for daily driving. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly but sometimes hesitates. Otherwise, everything else seems to be in good mechanical working order, the vehicle drove straight without any shaking, shimmy or vibration. NO check engine light. Battery and tires are in fair serviceable condition but should probably be replaced. The interior is in very good condition. The seats are clean, they do not have any rips or tears. The headliner is in good condition as well. The factory air-conditioner needs freon. All power options (locks, windows, side mirrors, rear window defogger) are FULLY functional. Spare tire, lug wrench or the jack are included with the vehicle. About the Crown Victoria: Durability, cost and performance are the top requirements of law enforcement agencies, fleet and cab companies. Also, office size interior space & lots of power = comfort & confidence on the freeway. The 5,424 Crown Vics sold in January 2007 far exceeded the 3,526 of the newer Ford Five Hundred which is a more technically advanced full size car with similar passenger space and better fuel economy. It won the Editor's Most Wanted Vehicle in the Large Sedan under $30,000 for 1999, 2001, 2002. Does 1,000,000 miles on the odometer sound strange? Read consumer reviews here About the P71: The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (or simply P71) is the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria. Though the name has been officially in use since 1992, the 1979–1991 full-size LTDs and LTD Crown Victorias and 1992 updated body style used the "P72" production code designation for both fleet/taxi and police models. From 1993–1998, the police car models of Crown Victorias were officially known as Crown Victoria P71s. The current major design of the car was introduced in 1998. It is one of the most widely-used automobiles in North American police departments, and due to the workhorse nature of the vehicle, is also used by many taxi companies. Since Chevrolet dropped the rear-drive Caprice, Ford has had a near-monopoly on the market for police cruisers because of a preference for its conventional rear-wheel drive, V8 power, and body-on-frame construction, all popular with police driving techniques. As one of the few remaining passenger cars with body-on-frame, it is rugged, and enables inexpensive repairs after minor accidents without the need to straighten the chassis - an important benefit for a car frequently used by police forces for PIT maneuvers (ramming a car to spin it out) - making it preferable to unibody vehicles. Although the Police Interceptor is not sold to the general public, these cars are widely available on the used car market in the US and Canada once they are no longer needed for law enforcement or fleet duty. When these cars are built they come equipped with a heavy duty transmission, heavy duty brakes, a roll bar, and a 250HP engine. Used Police Interceptors are normally stripped of any police decals, radio and computer equipment and emergency lights by law enforcement agencies before being sold or auctioned.
