I AM SELLING MY 2000 MODEL YEAR LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II. THIS CAR HAS JUST UNDER 100,000 MILES AT TIME OF LISTING. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS AND HAVE ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED DRIVING THIS CAR. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER TO WORK WHICH IS 15 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAD 80,000 MILES ON IT AND NO DAMAGE. IT TURNS OUT THAT IT DID NEED SOME WORK. I SPENT OVER $2000 REPLACING THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT AND HAVING THE REAR SEAL REPLACED ON THE ENGINE. WHEN YOU REPLACE THE REAR SEAL YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART SO MY MECHANIC WENT AHEAD AND PUT IN ALL NEW GASKETS THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE AND REPLACED THE BELTS. THE CAR DRIVES INCREDIBLY WELL AND THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ARE SUPER SMOOTH AND IN MY OPINION ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE WORKS PERFECTLY AS DOES THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW. THE TRACTION CONTROL WORKS PERFECTLY AS DOES THE DOWNHILL DESCENT FEATURE. I AM SELLING THIS CAR TO SAVE AS MUCH MONEY AS I CAN ON FUEL COSTS. I KNEW THAT THE GAS MILEAGE FOR THIS VEHICLE WAS AROUND 15 MPG BUT THE REAL KICKER IS HAVING TO PUT IN PREMIUM FUEL. I ONLY USE EXXON 93 OCTANE PREMIUM FUEL. THE ADDED COST FOR PREMIUM COMBINED WITH BAD GAS MILEAGE HAS REALLY HIT MY POCKET BOOK. I AM GOING TO GIVE UP THIS GREAT DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND SETTLE FOR A FUEL EFFICIENT SUB COMPACT. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED RIDING AROUND IN SUCH AN EYE TURNER OF A VEHICLE AND WILL MISS THIS CAR VERY MUCH. EVERYWHERE WE GO PEOPLE LIKE TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND ASK QUESTIONS. THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE IS VERY CLEAN AND THERE ARE NO TEARS OR BAD STAINS IN ANY OF THE SEATS OR CARPET. THIS CAR HAS DUAL FRONT HEATED POWERED SEATS WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT. I LOVE THIS FEATURE WHEN YOU GET INTO THE CAR ON A COLD MORNING AND YOUR SEAT FEELS LIKE A HEATED BLANKET. THIS CAR HAS THE FACTORY HARMON KARDEN CAR STEREO SYSTEM WITH 6 DISC CD CHANGER AND CASSETTE. YOU CAN TUNE THE RADIO OR CHOOSE A CD WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. THIS CAR HAS ALL LEATHER SEATING WHICH IS SUPER DURABLE AND FEELS GOOD IN BOTH COLD AND HOT DAYS. THE AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL WORKS PERFECTLY AND ALL YOU DO IS SET THE DESIRED TEMPERATURE FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. SUPER NICE FEATURE. OF COURSE ALL THE WINDOWS AND DOORS AND MIRRORS ARE POWER OPERATED. THIS CAR HAS DUAL MOONROOFS AND CRUISE CONTROL. THE ONLY FEATURE THIS CAR DIDN'T COME WITH WAS THE OPTIONAL FOG LIGHTS IN THE FRONT BUMPER. OVERALL THE CAR IS MECHANICALLY SOUND AND DRIVES THE WAY A LAND ROVER SHOULD. NOW, WHY WOULD YOU TRUST JUST ANYBODY WHEN IT COMES TO BUYING A USED CAR. I WILL TELL YOU WHY BECAUSE I AM WILLING TO TELL YOU EVERY SINGLE THING THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR. FIRST THING IS THAT LAST YEAR IN JANUARY I WAS DRIVING IN THE SNOW ON BAD TIRES AND I WENT TO FAST AROUND A CURVE AND SLID INTO A SNOW BANK. YOUR FIRST THOUGHT MAY BE I THOUGHT THIS WAS A LAND ROVER AND IT CAN DRIVE THROUGH ANY KIND OF TERRAIN AND WEATHER. THE TRUTH IS THAT IT IS A BAD ASS CAR THAT WAS DESIGNED FOR OFF ROADING AND EXTREME DRIVING BUT IF YOU HAVE BAD TIRES AND DRIVE TO FAST IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT KIND OF VEHICLE YOU ARE DRIVING. THE LAWS OF PHYSICS ALWAYS WIN IN THE END. SO, I HIT THE SNOW BANK ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL. THE REAL DAMAGE WAS TO THE PLASTIC BUMPER DOWN LOW. THIS PIECE BASICALLY CRACKED INTO A BUNCH OF PIECES AND FELL OFF THE VEHICLE EXPOSING THE UNDERLYING METAL STRUCTURE. THE PLASTIC WASHER FLUID HOLDER BUSTED IN 2 AND NO LONGER HOLDS FLUID ( NO WINDOW WASHING FOR NOW). THE METAL UNDER THE BUMPER WAS PUSHED IN A LITTLE AND BROKE 1 OF THE 4 SUPPORT PIECES THAT HOLD THE DRIVER HEADLIGHT. THE HEADLIGHT WORKS PERFECTLY AND IS ALLIGNED PROPERLY. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THE CAR SO I WAS WILLING TO DRIVE WITHOUT DOING ANY REPAIRS. IF YOU HAVE ANY MECHANICAL SKILLS THIS IS SIMPLY A BOLT ON TYPE REPAIR WHICH COULD BE DONE IN AN AFTERNOON. OTHER EXTERIOR BODY DAMAGE IS VERY SLIGHT. THE REAR BUMPER HAS A SMALL INDENTION AND SCRAPE WHICH IS ALSO VISIBLE IN THE PICTURES. THE BACK WINDOW GLASS HAS A SCRATCH IN THE LINE OF THE WIPER BLADE FROM METAL TO GLASS. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAILIGHT HAS A VERY SMALL CHIP WHICH IS HARDLY NOTICABLE. THE PAINT IS IN FAIR CONDITION FOR THE AGE WITH ONLY A FEW SPOTS WHERE THE CLEAR COAT IS WEARING THIN ON THE ROOF. MINOR SCRATCHES ARE VISIBLE ALL AROUND THE CAR BUT NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY FOR A CAR OF THIS AGE. THE FRONT GRILL GUARD IS STARTING TO RUST IN A FEW PLACES BUT IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE GUARD. MAY NEED A LITTLE TOUCH UP PAINT TO STOP THE RUST. OVERALL THE EXTERIOR LOOKS GOOD AND STILL CLEANS UP REAL NICE. THE RIMS ARE PRETTY CLEAN WITH ONLY A FEW SMALL KNICKS AND GOUGES. THE SPARE TIRE RIM IS GOUGED BADLY IN 1 SPOT. ALL FOUR CENTER WHEELS INSERTS ARE MISSING AND CAN BE REPLACED INEXPENSIVELY. THE TIRES ARE ALL 3 MONTHS OLD AND HAVE LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON THEM. I PAID $700 FOR ALL FOUR TIRES BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011. NOW ONTO THE INTERIOR. THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR. IT WAS SUPER CLEAN WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND I TRIED TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM ON THE INTERIOR IS THE HEADLINER. THE HEADLINER IS SAGGING IN SEVERAL PLACES ABOVE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM FOR ALL LAND ROVER DISCOVERIES AND I BET YOU CAN'T FIND ONE OF THIS AGE WITHOUT A SAGGING HEADLINER. MANY PEOPLE EITHER REPLACE THE HEADLINER, WHICH YOU CAN DO YOURSELF, OR JUST GET USED TO IT. IT DOESN'T HIT YOUR HEAD OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK GREAT IF YOU STARE AT THE CEILING. ALL THE FUNCTIONS AND FEATURES OF THE CAR WORK EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT SUNROOF MOTOR IS BAD. THIS TOO IS ANOTHER COMMON PROBLEM IN LAND ROVER DISCOVERIES THAT MOST PEOPLE IGNORE OR HAVE REPLACED WHEN THEY REDO THE HEADLINER. THE REAR SUNROOF FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. THE HORN BUTTONS ARE BROKEN LOOSE FROM THE STEERING WHEN BUT THE HORN WORKS IF YOU TOUCH THE WIRE WITH YOUR FINGER. THIS ALSO IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. YOU CAN EASILY REPLACE THE HORN BUTTONS AS WELL. THE ONLY OTHER FUNCTION THAT DOES NOT WORK IS THE POWER LOCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. IT WON'T GO UP OR DOWN WITH THE ELECTRIC LOCK FUNCTION OR THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY. THIS IS REALLY A GREAT VEHICLE THAT COSTS OVER $38000 WHEN PURCHASED NEW BACK IN 2000. IT IS TRULY A LUXURY CAR AND WITH ONLY 99k MILES ON IT YOU SHOULD BE DRIVING THIS FOR MANY YEARS.
