Vehicle Detail
Let me begin by stating that this is the best and dare I say coolest truck I've ever owned!!! This is a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. My wife and I purchased this truck from Bay Ridge Toyota of Brooklyn as a lease return in July of 2009 with only 15,000 miles on it. We have only added another 25,000 over the last two and a half years to reach 40, 214. The average mileage for a 2007 FJ Cruiser is 60,000 with many that I’ve seen online rising high above that. We just had her inspected by Toyota and she was given a clean bill of health. In addition, we have the Vehicle Inquiry Report from Toyota which details everything included in this FJ. We are cutting costs as most Americans and the FJ has become more of a luxury than a necessity. (My wife and I both work in Manhattan and commute on the subway every day). This beautiful truck has now been sitting in our driveway for two months wasting her potential and needs a good home... This FJ Cruiser is fully loaded with a combination of creature comforts such as power everything, back-up assist, and a leather wrapped steering wheel along with the ruggedness and agility to compete with anything Jeep, (I've included You Tube clips of FJ's off-road as an example). These are a must watch! (Please copy and paste the links if they do not work automatically) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52967PqEX9w&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW9ZTxRx36w&NR=1&feature=endscreen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE_p4a7UAQI&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEDPRsFYBs4&feature=related After last year’s Christmas blizzard, I could only feel for my neighbors who spent hours shoveling out their cars and trucks while I simply threw her into 4 wheel low and pulled out without getting my hands dirty once. During a trip with friends out to Ohio a couple of months after we had purchased it, we got caught in a fierce rain storm for the entire 500 mile trip home. The large tires, high suspension, and handling made it seem effortless and the only reason we had to slow down some was so that our friends in their Honda could keep up with us. One of the greatest selling points for me was the interior comfort in regards to superior head and leg room. This is especially pertinent for those over 6' with long legs such as myself. In every car or truck I've owned over the years, my greatest complaint was feeling cramped with the 1 inch of head room and my legs bumping into the side of the center console. This is anything but the case here. I have never felt more comfortable with the several inches of headroom and the fact that my legs can relax without hindrance. There are also the armrests as well as the 8-way driver/4-way front passenger manually adjustable seats. I also love the large front doors making entry and exit easy and there is nothing cooler than the rear half doors (or suicide doors as they were known back in the day) which open backwards. (I get positive comments from passersby on the street every time I open them). The air conditioner will have you cool within seconds and the heater makes you forget that this is the Northeast and it is 26 degrees outside! v A special note on comfort in regards to the black color of our FJ. My wife and I were hesitant at first to buy a black truck due to the excessive heat and humidity in New York during the summers. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the fact that the white roof acts as a wonderful deterrent just as when the apartment buildings paint their roofs white to keep from attracting the heat. Our truck is actually quite cool in the summer! Difficult to believe but true! In regards to safety, this FJ is also at the top of its game with Anti-Lock Brakes, Airbags (both front and side curtain), Traction control, and Vehicle stability control (VSC). The previous owner also added TRD Performance Exhaust. This is the SUV you want with the snow on its way this winter! Here are some things Edmonds had to say: The 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser midsize SUV comes in one body style, essentially a two-door SUV with a pair of smaller, reverse-opening doors behind the standard front ones. There is a single trim level that comes with air conditioning, a six-speaker CD stereo, power windows and locks, eight-way manual adjustment for the driver seat and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Options include a convenience package that includes keyless entry, power mirrors, cruise control, deep tinted glass and rear park assist, alloy wheels, a locking rear differential, a six-disc CD changer, a 115-volt power outlet, active traction control, and an information display that includes a compass and inclinometer. Powering all FJ Cruisers is Toyota's refined workhorse 4.0-liter V6. In this application, it makes 239 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission, part-time four-wheel-drive system, Performance: Our test of a 4WD automatic FJ Cruiser confirmed that it's fairly quick for a 4,300-pound SUV, as our test vehicle ran the 0-60-mph drill in 7.8 seconds. Braking is strong too, with a stop from 60 mph taking just 126 feet -- very good for an SUV. Towing capacity is rated at a respectable 5,000 pounds, while fuel mileage ranges from 16 mpg city to 22 mpg highway. Safety: Stability control, traction control and antilock disc brakes with brake assist are all standard. Front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags for all outboard passengers, daytime running lights and rear park assist. In NHTSA crash tests, the FJ earned a top five-star rating for driver safety in head-on collisions. Front passengers earn four stars. For the side-impact test, front and rear passenger protection receive five stars. The IIHS gives the FJ a TOP score of good for its protection of occupants in frontal-offset and side-impact collisions. Interior Design and Special Features We approve of the FJ Cruiser's interior design, which stays true to the original FJ philosophy by being straightforward and functional rather than overly stylized and littered with gimmicks. A nice touch is the standard MP3 auxiliary input. An asset for outdoor sports enthusiasts is the available 115-volt, three-prong outlet in the cargo area. The front seats are very comfortable. Flipping that split rear seat down results in 66.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity. Driving Impressions: Along with those aggressive approach/departure angles, available locking differential and 17-inch wheels wearing 32-inch tires, all 4x4 models offer 9.6 inches of ground clearance, full underbody skid plates and generous suspension travel. As expected, the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser rocks off road, with its supple suspension articulation enabling it to clamber over boulders, tree roots and most anything else. On pavement, the precise steering, smooth ride and surprisingly low wind noise at freeway speeds make for an affable commuter.
