Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE Hi and welcome to my auction! This auction is for a completely one off Morris Mini pickup, 1963. This little beauty was exported from the Morris factory over to Cyprus in 1963, for those of you not too familiar with Cyprus it is like the Texas of Europe! This means very little rain and a great climate for old cars to survive in. I bought this Mini in Cyprus and had it shipped back to England where I began a complete comprehensive strip down restoration. As you can see from the pictures it has been taken right down to bare metal, coconut shell blasted (to avoid panel ripples and damage)and sprayed with zinc oxide primer. The only rust that this little truck had was in the door skins and the tail gate – the door have had new skins and the tailgate is a new heritage unit. At this point I need to add what I do for a living! This will then further explain the extent of the restoration that has been carried out. I am a surveyor of large private yachts, when I say large the last one I was the build supervisor on was 430 feet long and for a Royal family. My job is to ensure that everything is done to the highest standard for the owners pleasure, this in turn means that when I do something it has to be right and with no short cuts taken, this is the case with the pickup. Whilst building this large yacht the pickup was prepared and painted by the same company that painted the yacht, using the highest standard of paints on the market. All the primers and top coat have a marine grade UV protection agent built into the paint to help it last in extreme heat and environmental conditions – massive over specification for a car but hey only the best will do! In the end the little pickup has had 8 litres – 2.3 gallons of top coat applied, this was applied in the rear bed, in the cab, engine bay, practically everywhere! Most repaints use about 1 gallon if you are lucky so you can imagine how deep this little beauty shines! Once the body was finished it was time to rebuild the mechanics, all old mini’s have ‘sub frames’ the rear unit was in very good condition and no work was required, it was recently new. The front subframe was blasted and then powder coated to a marine grade – lots of coating - in gloss black. All the suspension was stripped, all main components blasted and powder coated. All rubbers everywhere are new, All suspension joints and shocks are new and of the highest standard available. The rear ‘radius’ arms have been fully reconditioned and all rear brakes are new and have the upgraded ‘minifin’ aluminium drums. The front brakes are completely new and have been upgraded to 4 pot callipers with fully vented discs and ‘racing’ pads. The wheels are a very rare unique set taken from one of the last old shape mini’s the ‘sport’ 500 the wheels have been coconut blasted and painted black completely – once again with a lot of paint! She has two new tyres and two slightly worn tyres - the wheels and tyres are 13” The arches also came from a sport 500 and look great, although a little modification is required to make the rear ones 100% - salon cars differ from pickups and this leaves a small gap at the rear of the arch – if I hadn’t said this you would never notice! Now that the suspension , brakes and wheels where new it was time for the drive train. The old 850cc engine was tired and had done well over the years but a new unit was needed. I sourced a very low mileage ‘MG Metro’ 1300 cc A+ unit and stripped the unit down for inspection. These units are very strong units and provide great torque and power for the size. The pistons and main bearings checked out perfect. The oil pump was replaced with a racing standard ‘turbo’ type pump and the cylinder head was converted to unleaded, whilst this was been carried out all the valves where taken out, new stem seals fitted and all ground back into place, the head was skimmed and fitted back in place. The gearbox was stripped, cleaned and inspected, a new ‘racing’ spec X pin differential was added to take the extra power that was intended. The engine was chemically washed internally and externally and rebuilt with genuine gaskets, finally having a new ‘racing’ spec clutch fitted. The hydraulics for the brake are all new, new copper lines and new master cylinder for both the clutch and the brakes. The gas tank was replaced with a brand new heritage unit and the gas lines are new. Now for the crazy part!! I have in the past built many pickups, the last one was the only diesel mini pickup in the world! So I had to keep up to my reputation! So I decided to purchase a Supercharger conversion kit!! The kit takes a supercharger unit from the new BMW Mini cooper S and fits snuggly under the bonnet of the old mini. This is the ultimate conversion for the classic mini! The power this creates allows you to have the old style look whilst having the up to date power and driveability of a new car! Once the conversion was installed it was sent to a local Rally car specialist to have all final tests and tweaks carried out. I bought brand new classic style seats and interior and continued with the grey and black theme throughout. Finally as I have stated before, I build large private yachts and as a result of this I have always wanted to have a teak deck built for a pickup and this one has one! It was fabricated by the finest German teak deck company and is superb! It has the same teak as fitted to the world’s 8th largest yacht. So there is the history of my pickup! Due to new projects It is with massive reluctance that I have to let some of my toys go, I have a mini van in restoration and was intending on doing the exact same to that, which would give an exact pair! I am based in Ft Lauderdale and the mini is currently in the UK,it is currently Right hand drive but on request i can have it converted to LHD – she is booked on the container ship and due to arrive in Port Everglades in February. It was the intention that my work would keep me here in Florida indefinitely and that is why I am sending the pickup over. As my work is probably going to take me elsewhere the pickup will be available for collection / sale on arrival. All US importation paperwork and taxes will be paid by me and she will be ready for registration upon arrival. Just to point out again, when she arrives she will be can either be RHD or LHD. Also to point out, this is in no way a scam!! I do not expect payment before collection, If you are serious I would like a deposit to hold it for you as I expect a lot of interest. I am a straight forward guy and can be called on 954 397 2754 at any time to discuss the pickup, I do prefer that all calls are done before 1000pm Florida time. I have more pictures and will add them over the course of the next few days and can email larger copies on request. Please digest all the information written here and should you have any questions please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read the information. Dale On Dec-30-11 at 18:08:08 PST, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE IT STATES FULL PAYMENT REQUIRED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF END OF AUCTION - PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION, THIS IS NOT REQUIRED ONLY A DEPOSIT REMAINDER ON DELIVERY THANKS, DALEOn Jan-03-12 at 16:58:40 PST, seller added the following information: To answer a lot of your questions, the car has a current UK title and it is a clear title, it is registered in my name and has been so since 2002 - the last 10 years. The car has a VIN number which for security reasons i will not fully list here on Ebay, i have heard many stories about the identification of older cars being stolen this way. I will show a partial VIN number: MAV44492## I am happy to provide my full address both here and in the Uk to the winning bidder and provide a copy of the title and my passport should this be required. The car is currently RHD and if LHD is required then this can be discussed with the winning bidder, the garage i used for the rolling road will convert her across if required for around $500 this is for discussion with the winner, or it can be left the way it is. Like i said in my listing, i am a straight forward guy and as such i deal in an honest straight forward way. I hope this clarifies a few things Thanks, Dale
