Vehicle Detail
OK everyone, here’s one of the nicest little Maverick’s around. I say that because I’ve spent the past four years working on her and making it into something that turns heads at car shows, parking lots and just driving down the street. Park this next to a mustang and you’ll have more people talking to you about it than theirs---promise! Specifics: 200CI inline six with Holley progressive 2bbl carburetor; C4 automatic transmission; cold A/C (new summer 2011); great working heater; aftermarket AM/FM cassette. The LDO model was a loaded option and everything on the car works. Plush reclining bucket seats, original “shag” carpeting, deluxe trim option with the “halo” vinyl roof treatment. The vinyl top is in perfect condition. The car is an early production number for the 1973 model year having the package tray instead of the glovebox. **Just the past week I had a couple of glasspacks installed. We made a "Y" at the transmission split it there and ran it straight out the back. Chrome tips as well.** As you can see from the photos I’ve done some mild custom work on the car. Added has been an OEM Maverick Grabber rear spoiler; Ford dual remote control sport mirrors. The hood scoops were adapted from a Ford Fairlane GT and look right in place on the car. The interior was treated using SEM and custom-mixed Sherwin Williams interior vinyl paint to give a nice two-tone. Original carpet is in excellent shape. New tires all the way around. Goodrich Radial T/A’s on American Racing Rims. 205 70R14’s in the front and 245 60R14’s in the rear. 5 lug and 8” rear-end. Original drum brakes front and back. The body is nice and solid with no rust in the quarter panels or floor pan. No leaks through the cowl. I recall only 3 places on the entire body that aren’t absolutely perfect and are of the type that disappear from 3 feet away. An eraser sized spot on the lower driver’s side door, two small imperfections on the passenger side door near the top along the upper ridge of the door and a small quarter sized indentation on the right front quarter panel. None of them have affected the paint. The car was re-painted original color in the spring of 2008 using acrylic enamel. There are a few minor sanding marks that show but disappear once you step back from it. The interior is a real head turner and I wouldn’t spend a dime on any re-upholstering unless you feel you absolutely have to. I guarantee you won’t feel ashamed to open the doors and let anyone have a look around. One small tear on the seam on the driver’s side and a vinyl repair on the driver’s side seat where your right shoulder would be. The passenger side has a small tear on the interior side of the seat. Headliner is in very good shape and does not need replaced unless you want to do away with the 10” stitching repair I did to keep it from spreading. The dash pad had one crack right in the middle but I have added a dash cover and painted it to match the rest of the interior. Some custom work and detailing are evident in the engine bay and grabs attention when the hood is raised. Brief car history—won in a church raffle in 1973 in Emmet, CA. The couple drove it for until about 1990 putting 72K miles on it then parked it in the garage for about 15 years after one of the owners died. Second owner bought it in 2005 for his grandson and had the top end done (timing chain, oil pump, rocker bearings, rings and valves). He drove it to 80K miles then they sold it to an Ebay buyer that buys and sells cars. The Ebay seller is the one I bought it from in October of 2007 when it had 80,400 miles. The car starts every time, runs and shifts smooth and drives nice and straight down the road. With the little 200, you have to accept that the car is not fast. It gets you from point A to point B and looks real nice doing it. Additional photos are available on Photobucket -- http://s1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/4myprotection/
